18 Jan- IPL Fixing- Life Ban for Sreesanth, Chavan and Chandilla

Really? Bloody hell, the guy surely can't focus properly on running both State, National and International cricket at the same time? I don't think that there is any other sport that has the head of its international organisation both run a national organisation plus a local organisation within that nation, and also own a team within that countries premier competition at the same time!

Yup srinivasan is a as**ole,he always give support to the guys who belong to his community in both CSK & Tamil nadu state team,he has screwed many cricketers carriers.

The Supreme Court has reportedly "observed" in today's hearing that CSK must be disqualified, without any further enquiry or probe or delay. The court has asked why BCCI hasn't already done so in light of so many discrepancies - Srini's dual role creating a conflict of interest and Meiyyappan's guilt with regard to link with bookies.

The Supreme Court has also sought Srini and his family's shareholding details in India Cement, the prime owner of CSK. In another major blow to the BCCI and Srini, the Supreme Court has ordered that the BCCI elections for new President must go ahead now and need not be delayed. Those under the scanner must have nothing to do with it. So far just because Srini was unavailable to contest due to the probe, BCCI had kept delaying the elections, hoping that the SC would allow Srini to contest. However the Supreme Court has now with this observation dashed hopes of Srini contesting the elections, and that definitely ends Srini's stint as BCCI chairman.

The hearing is still ongoing so final details will come in later. Its worth watching out this space for. Going into the hearing today, it was widely speculated that the names of some players could also be revealed. There were three names leaked a few days back and it takes no genius to guess that MS Dhoni is definitely one of the players under the scanner in light of his dual role as CSK Skipper and India Cement Vice President which constitutes a conflict of interest.

Who are the other players involved, we need to wait and see.

Just a kind request - it would be really nice if you guys could post links to the info you guys share. Not questioning your info's credibility, just like reading news reports. And I don't mind finding the links myself when on my workstation, but its a bit of a pain when browsing on my phone :|

About this issue. Its about time someone brought this wretched Srinivasan under control and took action against him. If the Indian Prime Minister can be questioned about turning a blind eye to "scams", then surely Srini needs to be reprimanded for doing something similar

In the final reports here is the key info from today's hearing -

1) Supreme Court "observers" CSK (and RR) should be disqualified. (Note - This is still only an "observation", but may well take the shape of an "order" once the final judgement is passed)

2) For the first time CSK admitted that Meiyappan (whose links with bookies were confirmed by the Enquiry Committee) was an "official". So far CSK had maintained that Meiyappan was just an enthusiast who had nothing to do with team management.

3) Supreme Court said that BCCI elections must be held, and those under the scanner should not feature in the elections and step aside.

4) Court also mentioned MS Dhoni's dual role as Captain of National Side and VC of India Cements.

Lol the less said about Manmohan Singh the better. Anyway the point is I don't know about ICC and how their President's are chosen and work, but it seems on Indian soil Srini is done for a while.

Supreme Court has passed the final order -

1) SC Says BCCI's actions are subject to judicial review.
2) SC Strikes down Provision that allowed for BCCI officials to have stake in IPL or CL T20
3) Forms a three Panel Committee to suggest further reforms in the BCCI.
4) Srinivasan not guilty of fixing or betting, or having knowledge of Meiyapan's betting or cover up.
5) Srinivasan still guilty of Conflict of Interest.
6) Raj Kundra and Meiyyapan were "Team Officials" guilty of Betting.
7) A Committee formed to recommend quantum of punishment for Kundra and Meiyyapan.
8) Committee to also further probe allegations against Sundar Raman.
9) BCCI must hold elections within 6 weeks, those guilty of Conflict of Interest, including Srinivasan or any other issue can't contest.
10) Asks committe to oversee that all the directives are carried out, and has said that it doesn't trust BCCI to do the needful itself.

Some Questions that Remain -

1) What about the fates of CSK and RR?

I feel CSK are unlikely to be affected as the one doing the betting was nailed, and apart from this there remain no more fixing allegations against CSK. Also with Srinivasan no longer in a position to run BCCI, there is no longer and conflict of interest.

Similarly with RR, with Kundra now nailed, there is nothing left for RR to do, and I suppose even RR should not have any further issues.

So in essence both Franchises should be fine.

2) Is there any route that remains for Srinivasan to Remain in India Cricket Administration?

Yes, SC has asked Srinivasan to choose between CSK and BCCI. So if Srinivasan gives up his holding in CSK, he can then remain in administration. However whether he can contest the upcoming elections remains to be seen.

I don't find anything new with this decision...
Srinivasan was given a clean chit by Mudgal report months back.

From what I understood, there are two significant developments. The courts ruling that BCCI will no longer be considered a private organisation.

And the best one, Srinivasan will have to choose between CSK and BCCI. I say the best one, because it has always been clear case of conflict of interest.

Good move. As Abhi said, the ruling that BCCI will not be considered a private organization anymore is a huge one. BCCI have for long been doing a lot of nonsense since they were thinking that being a private organization, they are not answerable to the public. But the team that they select and play is called the "Indian national cricket team". Therefore, BCCI is answerable to the country for its actions.

And regarding Srinivasan having to choose between CSK and BCCI - I am guessing he will choose the latter. The only thing I wish for is, CSK and RR should not be suspended. Instead, the ownership for these two franchises can be transferred to someone else. The fanbase built around these two teams are too huge to now be struck down and scrapped. Especially CSK whose players have not done anything wrong and whose players have been responsible for the tremendous success that the franchise has built around its name.

Sreeni has just handed over the ownership of CSK & India Cements to a subsidiary group.
This just shows that how badly Sreeni is after the Administrative Powers.

And also how all the others in there want him back so that they don't get exposed too. All have had their tummies filled by Srini and want more. He will be re elected and the things will come down from where they begun! BCCI has to come under RTA and the govt. must take steps to make sure it is transparent and running without any corruption. These people have spoilt the game enough already! I really don't know how bad I feel about Cricket being the sufferer. Idiots!
