Micheal and David Hussey in the same team.
Austrlaia have everything, big hitting batsmen, pace bowlers, spin bowlers.
Announcing a squad this early proves how confindent they are of winning this as well.

Nah, it just means they don't have any cricket to play till September, and instead of just waiting around, why not just announce the squad now so that the players can prepare themselves..

Well if India & Pakistan can't knock off one of the minnow teams then they aren't really the best are they?

Thats a specious argument. South Africa lost to Bangladesh too in the 2007 World Cup, and yet they played the Super 8s while India couldn't. The only difference was India played them early and SA played them later. Two teams making the same mistake, but one team being punished for it more severely than the other points to a flaw in the format.

if you're a pakistan or india supporter

And Australia-England matches are exciting if you're an australia or england supporter. So whats your point?

Not necessarily. Yuvraj is still in the reckoning, more so after his good batting in the recent series. Yes, he had discplinary problems, but for the people concerned, good form precedes everything else. Dhoni being vice captain in ODI's doesnt necessarily mean he will be the automatic choice as captain.

He is not consistent enough.
He will score a ton or two when they talk of throwing him out.
Well, with Sehwag in the 30 man squad,he might be selected as captain also.

NZ 30 man squad:

Andre Adams, Shane Bond, Neil Broom, Grant Elliott, Stephen Fleming, James Franklin, Peter Fulton, Mark Gillespie, Chris Harris, Paul Hitchcock, Gareth Hopkins, Jamie How, James Marshall, Chris Martin, Michael Mason, Brendon McCullum, Nathan McCullum, Peter McGlashan, Craig McMillan, James McMillan, Warren McSkimming, Iain O'Brien, Jacob Oram, Jeetan Patel, Aaron Redmond, Bradley Scott, Scott Styris, Ross Taylor, Daniel Vettori, Lou Vincent.

No real surprises. Mills is unavailable due to injury though. Nice to see Harris's name there. On domestic twenty/20 form he should be selected in our 15? man squad.

My picks would be:
Andre Adams,
Shane Bond,
Stephen Fleming,
James Franklin,
Peter Fulton,
Mark Gillespie,
Chris Harris,
Brendon McCullum,
Craig McMillan,
Jacob Oram,
Jeetan Patel,
Scott Styris,
Ross Taylor,
Daniel Vettori,
Lou Vincent.

My point is that it is not the most exciting contest for the majority of the cricketing World.

Personally I think that Pakistan-India will be more exciting because the two are more evenly matched. What will actually be exciting is Australia v Sri Lanka. Rematch of the WC final.

Australia needs to pick Cameron White and Dave Hussey, personally I'd open Dave with Gilly, and put Whitey at number 4, get us off to a flyer. Shane Harwood would be a good selection too as he's very economical. Brett Lee is a bad fit for Twenty20 I should think.

I don`t think that Sri Lanka will pose a major threat in the 20-20 WC.
They will depend a lot on Sanath and do not have big-hitters in the middle order.
They have run-accumalators in the middle-order like Dilshan,Arnold,Chamara Silva who are not known for their big hits.
Another factor is that the wickets here in SA will be a lot more different to those at home in SRL or for that matter the ones they played on in the Carribean.

Murali, in all probability won`t be playing the tournament and that would be a big blow for them.

What on earth happened to White? Hes the most successful 20/20 batter in the game.

I've got no idea. He smashed a couple of biggies in the Twenty20 match against England earlier this year and played well in the ODI series.

Its strange to see Australia not choosing a specialist twenty20 side.
They have got rid of the specialists they've previously selected and narrowed it do to the ODI side.
They'll win it anyway but it is always best to pick players who are best in twenty20.
