Here you go, Dare :D.

If someone has to go out of that poll to let another great in, it would either be Greg Chappell or Ponting.

metallics2006 added 1 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

Chanders is a WI great, he is certainly a great batsman but the guys in the poll are in another league, even some of the guys Dan just mentioned.

Sehwag doesn't deserve to be mentioned beside guys like Bradman, Sobers, Tendulkar etc.
Agree. If we take this list as List A. Sehwag would probably come in at List B or List C.

Chanderpaul and Kallis don't get near the list for me. I should have added a few more guys onto the list, not all of these, but they should all be close to the list at least- Walter Hammond, Len Hutton, Frank Worrell, Everton Weekes, Allan Border, Herbert Sutcliffe and Sunil Gavaskar. I rate all of those guys ahead of Kallis and Chanderpaul.

Kallis and Chanderpaul are nowhere near to become the second greatest test batter.. And yeah, I really was a bit surprised when I didn't see Suctcliffe in the poll? Why didn't you include him anyway? I remember reading a book about Sutcliffe- don't remember the name. Quite a brilliant batsman. Co-incidentally he was a big fan of WG Grace.

oo this deserves a facepalm. will dig one up in a bit.

I'm sorry but Viv is in a different league than Sehwag. The two shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. As far as I can remember Viv wasn't a flat track bully. He was just a guy that bullied the bowlers he faced.

EDIT: as promised

Sehwag plundered and scored 200 runs against Mendis ,Murali last season in a track which was dry to the core and second highest score by a batsman in that match was below 70.I don't think Viv succeded on dry tacks.Sehwag also plundered aussies in adelaide remember?

Just felt I had to make it double.

Another player I would like to name here, not really the second greatest batsman of all-time- but he was the first Indian cricketer who became famous and popular in the Western world. Ranjit Singhji- heard his name (our western firends) ? The player after whom the Ranji trophy is named. His brother was also brilliant- Duleep Singhji. He featured in just 12 Tests, 19 innings, scored 995 runs with an average of 58+, with 3 centuries, and 5 half centuries. They are not really the second best test batter of alltime, but they were the firsts to show the western world that India can also play cricket, and can dominate in this form of sports

I'd have to agree. Sehwag is a superb batsmen and often underrated by a large portion of amateur pundits but Sir Viv was in a completely different league altogether.

Viv scored runs against anyone anywhere. Viv is regarded as one of the best batsman to ever play the game. Sehwag is good batsman but he wont be mentioned in the same category as Viv as most people on these forums will agree with that.

Viv Richards was like a Sehwag^2 + 1/2*Gavaskar + 1/4 * Bradman. He was a mastero, a legend, a pure genius. Sehwag has a long way to go before we call him a legend.

Sir sunil gavaskar 2nd and no1 for me is sachin tendulkar but sir don bradman has played very less match but records are in hand of sachin tendulkar.

One and Only Sachin

One and only Sachin Tendulkar closely followed by Sir Vivian Richards and Sir Gary Sobers tied for the 3rd position
