The All Stars win the toss on a hard pitch and elect to bat first. The teams selected are as follows:

The All Stars start poorly with Graeme Smith dismissed by a diving Damien Martyn in the gully, soon followed by a very unlucky Michael Vaughan, given out LBW to a ball pitched and continuing on a line outside off stump...

Things didn't get much better as first Sachin Tendulkar chose the wrong ball to leave, with his leg stump getting clipped by a Jason Gillespie missile. That was superseeded by a brilliant low diving catch by Adam Gilchrist to dismiss the dangerous Rahul Dravid. At this early stage the All Stars were 4 wickets down with not many runs on the board...

The All Stars were soon really struggling with the quick dismissals of Brian Lara, Mark Boucher and Abdur Razzaq, all fell to Gillespie, giving the paceman a tally so far of 6 All Star scalps.

Lara was going great guns until he fell to another great catch by Martyn at gully. Boucher went the exact same way as Tendulkar, while Razzaq fell first ball to Ponting at third slip, giving Gillespie the chance at a hat-trick which he was unable to achieve...

Hmm......the aussies are dominating the all stars

The only other highlight (if you could call it that!) of the All Stars innings was when Jacques Kallis was given out LBW to Warne for a duck after facing 47 balls without scoring a single run.

The All Stars were finally bowled out for a very poor 120, Sundries being the highest scorer with 65 DAMN THE BYES BUG and Jason Gillespie taking the great figues of 7 for 36 from 17 overs.

The Australian reply was only 3 balls old when rained intervened, washing out the remaining play on Day One. So in reply to the All Stars 120, Australia is currently 1 for 0, Langer (1*) and Hayden(0*) the batsmen.
