A Suggestion

Traditionally, suggestions are most convincing when laid out as arguments rather than assertions. The point being that you need to convince people that what you're proposing is better than the alternative (or the status quo). As Colin and Andrew have already pointed out, there is actual evidence that what you are proposing does not work, however sensible the idea may seem in theory. It's rather hard to counter such evidence with an assertion to the contrary. Knowing your audience helps and, as those of us who were in The Chatroom last night will know, The Colin favours empiricism over theory. :p

ok,point noted. But dont you see some flaws in the current structure. Some threads(mostly queries) do sometimes remain unanswered for a while and they either got unnoticed or the person asking the query posts again for this to be answered. Why do you see this happening?

The person asking normaly asks a question that has already been asked, they just are to lazy to search for it, if theyre that desperate

This usually happens because the query has already been answered elsewhere, or the person asking has not used a clear enough topic title.

There is hard and firm evidence that your proposal DOES NOT WORK. If I had an idea, and then was showed evidence that it wouldn't work, I'd give up on it. Why don't you take the common sense approach?

OR: Provide some sort of evidence that your proposal would work.

No I didnt mean it that way,I simply wanted your views on the current system. If as you say the idea hasnt worked, then ok no need to implement it here.

I have already tried to do so,but they seem to be ignored and simply because the idea hasnt worked before.Fine I do not have any probs with you views and consider your decision.

You haven't given any evidence that the idea would work. Your suggestion has been considered, but as there is evidence that the idea wouldn't work, and you have not presented any evidence that it would work, it won't be implemented.

How can I provide evidence to the idea,by creating my own forums? .I still do not know the exact reasons to why the idea did not work, and hence I cant tell,I have already suggested methods to how to reduce member confusions to the subforums.

Pretty simple really, people are stupid. You can do whatever you want but a large amount of people will continue to post in the wrong sections. In theory, it's a great idea, as shown by the fact that Colin used to have it- in practise, it really doesn't work too well.

lol,ok.Perhaps Colin must have thought what I had as well when he tried this but ended up with this prob.I did not forsee this as well and thus I persisted with my ideas.

Has it been tried in a mass forum like this one? Perhaps the one it was tried on wasnt so congusted with threads as the one here.If it isnt the case then fine it doesnt have to be tried.I still think that by properly putting the idea forward this problem wont occur.

The scale of the forum will make the problem worse.
As BF says I like to try things rather than rely on abstract theory and the empirical evidence points to it not working on a smaller forum because people have no idea where to post. I can only see this being exacerbated on a bigger forum.
