Should England consider leaving Andrew Flintoff behind?

Is that all?

No jizz or nothing over Freddie, Foxy?

Somewhat suprised you've handled it that well.

Maybe because we all know its the right decision that he's going but he'll always be a legend no doubt.

My team for 1st vs SA

Strauss*
Cook
Bopara
KP
Collingwood
Patel/Trott
Prior+
Broad
Swann
Anderson
Onions

Probable team
Strauss*
Cook
Bopara
KP
Bell
Collingwood
Prior*
Broad
Swann
Anderson
Onions/Harmison

What.A.Signature.

Sorry, had to chime that in, Rhys Palmer the legend himself.

Yeah, bye Freddie. One series wonder who England always loved for his decent efforts over the years.

Far more than a one series wonder. The Ashes in 2005 was merely the peak of his career. The two years before that showed he was far more than a one series wonder.

Now, post Flintoff, what should the team be like? In the short term, we should go with six batsmen and four bowlers in my opinion. Lose Bell until he finds some bottle, and bring in Trott. So:

1. Strauss
2. Cook
3. Bopara
4. Pietersen
5. Trott
6. Collingwood
7. Prior
8. Swann
9. Sidebottom/Broad
10. Anderson
11. Onions

Shouldn't Broad be in front of Swann?

Another sidenote, whats with this new English word... "Bottle"? What does it mean.

My England XI Post Freddie:

Strauss
Carberry
Bell
Pietersen
Bopara
Collingwood
Read
Swann
Plunkett
Anderson
Onions

Would never happen in a milllion years however.

Depends on if we play Sidebottom or Broad. If Broad plays, he bats 8 in front of Swann, if Sidebottom plays, the other way around.

Hooper, bottle isn't a new English word. It just means ability to handle pressure. I think Michael Slater said about Shane Warne's batting in 2005, 'he's got some bottle'. See, an Aussie used the word, 4 years ago!

Depends on the context.

'To bottle' something means to choke (in the South African sense of the word).

However, 'bottle' is similar to 'guts'. For example, the batsman showed a great deal of bottle in that gutsy knock.

A shame. He never reached the heights of Botham as a batter or bowler. I always felt he wore the label round his neck like a millstone.
Yep, and now we can wait another 10 years for another proper allrounder to come around, only this time we can label him the new Freddie!

Oh my bad, just seeing it from you, Will and evo made me think it was a pom word made up while I was gone.

nah he's not been the same for a while, however I will knock one off over my Edgbaston DVD tonight in his honour.

I'll amend my team very slightly, seeing how Cook goes in this series. If he fails, I'd put Stephen Moore in.

1. Strauss
2. Cook/Moore
3. Bopara
4. Pietersen
5. Trott
6. Collingwood
7. Prior
8. Swann
9. Sidebottom/Broad
10. Anderson
11. Onions

Hooper, I'm laughing at your team. You really hate us don't you? :p

Someone's listening. I think it was a good movie, it'll prolong his ODI and T20 career.

I posted that this morning in a rush to get to uni haha. My bad. hopefully he gets a good send off and England at least win 1 test this series.
