Mixed Reaction to New Format

After Friday's news that 4 teams will be removed from the ICC World Twenty20 to incorparate the new knockout format there has been a mixed reaction throughout the world both for and against the idea.

Cricket Australia
"The idea is a good one and could show some unexpected results, it's a shame for the four teams that will not participate but life goes on. We can't be sympathetic to those all the time, we have to prepare for the one day series against the West Indies and then we will name our squad."

ECB
"The idea is a shocking one. The ICC have made a terrible decision. They have just said that the 8 best nations can be involved. If we didn't need the practice we would walk out. We hope that the ICC make amends to the four nations by allowing them back in for the next tournament, they should remove the teams that make it to the semi finals, that will also guarantee a different winner every year.

BCCI
"Fantastic idea, well done ICC, now the next move from here is have an official ICC IPL. This makes it easier for Team India to win their second World Twenty20. The ICC have our full backing for every move they do now, still Afridi should've been banned for the whole World T20, not just the series against Australia."

New Zealand Cricket
"We are ashamed by the ICC's decision, we are seriously considering boycotting the tournament. With this decision, an announcement will be made in the next 72 hours. A World Twenty20 isn't complete without shocks by associates. This is just a slogout with the 8 best teams in world cricket. I think this could impact our participation in future tournaments."

PCB
"The ICC are a massive joke. The good decision they made was only banning Afridi for the T20s against Australia. First they strip us of hosting the Champions Trophy, then, they remove us as hosts of the World Cup and now, they tarnish the reputation of the World Twenty20 by doing this! Are the BCCI working alongside the ICC? Because this sounds like the type of thing that they would do. After banning Pakistan players from IPL 3 this comes along and makes us more suspicious."

Cricket South Africa
"We are not fussed by the decision, if that's what the ICC think can help the progression of Twenty20 cricket then so be it. Yes it is harsh on the nations missing out but that's how life is and you've got to get over it. We've got our team fighting for number one in the test rankings so we can't really be worrying about a little change in format for a World Cup that's three months away!"

Sri Lanka Cricket
"We can't go on complaining about this, yes it's a poor decision that will cause uproar but we weren't kicked out, so it won't bother us as much. Our aim in the tournament is to go one better than last year and win. We were unlucky in that final but you've got to take your chances and we didn't."

WICB
"This decision will definately overshadow the whole tournament, we aren't letting a stupid decision by the ICC go and ruin a great tournament. The ICC needs to put this right or we won't host the tournament. If they had to replace anyone, why not teams that have a chance of dominating? Don't replace the minnows, I can see why most cricket fans won't be happy."

Kiwis in and Aussies Host

More controversy has arisen over the ICC's 8 team announcement. After a press release by New Zealand Cricket stating that they may pull out of the tournament, they have decided today that they will still participate in this years tournament.
"After a couple of days of thought and meetings, we have decided, for the sake of the fans, we will continue to participate in the tournament. We still aren't happy with what the ICC decided but we can't take action and pulling out of the tournament will only make it worse, also the players fitness is important and them not playing in games isn't the greatest of ideas. We want to win the tournament and prove we are the best at Twenty20 cricket in the world and we can't do that if we aren't in it."

Also to add to the controversy, the ICC have stripped the West Indies of the hosting rights to the World Twenty20, instead it will be hosted in Australia and the West Indies are banned from hosting ICC events for 2 tournaments. The ICC have announced the three grounds are the MCG, SCG and GABBA. They will also provide free travel and accomodation to anyone who booked flights and hotels in the Carribean country.

How can player's pull out from the tournament like this? Whatever the format is this is highly unprofessional:p

Lol@ ICC IPL.:laugh. And why not India dude? India is cricket crazy country. Btw, MCG, SCG, GABBA, good decision:)

lol @ the ECB, remove the four semi finalists from the next years comp? :sarcasm

Windies to Appeal Hosting Ban and Draw Results

After the ICC announced that the West Indies will be banned from hosting the next 2 ICC events. The WICB have announced that they will appeal the suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. All of this has arised after this statement.
This decision will definately overshadow the whole tournament, we aren't letting a stupid decision by the ICC go and ruin a great tournament. The ICC needs to put this right or we won't host the tournament. If they had to replace anyone, why not teams that have a chance of dominating? Don't replace the minnows, I can see why most cricket fans won't be happy.
An ICC statement said this.
"If the West Indies Cricket Board don't want to host the tournament, they don't have to, but don't think they can just ask to host any others any time soon. If you don't want it, you don't get it. Also Australia have larger grounds with great pitches, and a great cricketing atmosphere all round, so we have chosen the MCG, SCG and GABBA as our stadiums."

Also the draw has been made as well and the start date has been put forward to February 15th. Here is the draw in full.

Pakistan v West Indies
India v New Zealand
England v Sri Lanka
South Africa v Australia

The semi finals will be the winner of Game A v winner of Game C
winner of Game B v winner of Game D with the final on February 28th
