The problem is if you price software according to the economy of one country and it happened to be half the price of others then everyone will buy from that country.

Yup, that's the only problem. It would be hard to control as well, given the emergence of eBay and whatnot.
The problem with game companies is that they cannot force their prices down and make it up in other sectors. Other software companies can afford to do this on commercial software because they are probably being commissioned to develop proprietary software.
It is possible to finish piracy from my country but only if prices have atleast a 25 - 30 % price cut. Currently India is not counted in World super power countries but I am sure in the next 10 - 25 yrs we will also be a Super Power.
In India most people don't even know that they are using pirated windows, office, photoshop, games, etc. because the vendor pre-installs such softwares (pirated). And when someone tells them they don't care.
