Lets wait. There is no Div1 or two in place currently in test cricket. Lets talk about that when it is put in place. At the moment, this test match is far from over. Why are we writing sides off so early?

Herath might retire but every side faces retirements of the established players. Does that mean they would`nt find replacements? You just had the rookie chinaman bowler from SL doing well and now Kusal Mendis has come up with this cracking knock. SL have a decent seam bowling stock in Pradeep, Prasad, Eranga, Chameera and Lakmal. If their batsmen could show signs of improvement, they won`t take long to recover.

Well I agree with you but yeah lets see what happens :)

PS:What a knock by Mendis!!!!!!

Anything above 200 will be hard to chase! for Aussies!

Yeah, i think they'll find it difficult if it's turning. If Sri Lanka can get 2-3 early wickets, it'll surely push Australia on the backfoot.
Also, if O'Keefe misses the second Test, will Australia play with only one spinner?

Yeah no backup spinner :) one of Bird/Coulter Nile or Henriques will play :)

Edit:Holland (Spinner) will replace him!

This is a solid inning from Kusal Mendis. He is still at the crease so if he can somehow add 50 more runs with the tail, this game will be over. Batting against Herath and this new spinner on this turner in 4th inning will be extremely difficult.

Just wait till you write a side off this early in a test match. This is`nt a one-sided test match by any stretch of imagination. The current Australian side overseas is far from settled. I agree SL themselves are`nt the best side going around in test cricket. The fact that the Aussies are`nt cakewalking this test shows that they have a long way to go in overseas conditions.

You were indeed right. Though I only said it as a joke if SL would play Division 2 cricket. They are in a unlucky period, as many of their top players are injured. Also mixed in with that is they played England and now Australia. I feel bad for them all the same

Wow, never expected Sri Lanka to score 280. Great knock by Kusal Mendis. Hopefully SL can set the aussies about a 230 to 250 target and claim a win to show the world that they are slowly coming together even as not having their best team (Almost every good player succumb to injuries)[DOUBLEPOST=1469729710][/DOUBLEPOST]Wow, never expected Sri Lanka to score 280. Wow, I wanted Zampa to play instead of Holland. Though Holland seems decent for the most part, Zampa offers control and variation. Also combined with that is the fact that leg-spin seems to be working towards opposition teams (e.g Mishra vs WI, Yasir shah vs England (Forget the second test)} Well I don't think it will be long until Zampa gets a call-up

All those who were writing the SL side away as a Div.2 side who have no chance of winning against Australia, this should be a rude awakening. Lets face it, most sides in test cricket are poor away from home now. The current Australian side might be No.1 on the rankings but I don`t think they are in the mold of the dominating Aussie sides of the 90s and 2000s, especially away. I think all sides would fancy beating any side at home currently. Even the West Indies, if you look at their record at home in the last 5 years, have not been pathetic at home, with drawn series against Pakistan, NZ, England and SL.

7 consecutive losses for Australia in the subcontinent (4-0 to India, 2-0 to Pakistan and now 1-0 here so far). The Asian sides are a bugbear for this Aussie side. They have 7 more tests in Asia to follow after this match! If they don`t turn it around, that No.1 ranking could take a plunge.

That is a known fact isn't it? This thread is about the Australian tour to SL and my comment was specifically about modern Australian test sides not being all-weather sides unlike their predecessors.
