Story Bangladesh Begin Blissful Age [India In Bangladesh]

Cheers for the comments you two and yeah you're right, we're not out of the game yet. Bashar and Islam might be able to get a good partnership going to give us an outside chance, will still be hard though.

Thanks. :)

I am keeping my fingers crossed and I hope Bangladesh can seal this one in their favour. Good update Jaz.

Result... Who Won?

Bangladesh have remarkably still got to the fifth day despite being a much weaker team to that of Australia. They have battled every step of the way, in the batting and the bowling departments. One more day of 100% with the batting and Sir Ian Botham could be set to have a historic victory in his first match.

Overnight Bangladesh were 78/2 and Bashar was on 29* whilst Islam was on 16*. This partnership helped Bangladesh to a good total in the first innings with both batsmen scoring high, which they will need to do yet again for their country. It is only Islam's debut yet he already has mountains of pressure on his shoulders. The start for Bangladesh was very good with the 100 soon coming up, which meant they required 218 runs to win with 8 wickets in hand.

The runs were coming, although slowly, they were coming. The 100 run partnership was up after 1 hour and 15 minutes into the session, with both batsmen being 1 or 2 runs from their half centuries. They both performed in the first innings and have performed again, especially Islam on his debut but Bashar has the pressure as he is the captain. Bashar's 50 and Islam's 50 both came up in the same over and only 2 balls away from each others. This was the perfect start for Bangladesh.

Bashar 50* off 100 balls

Islam 50* off 101 balls

They are scoring at almost the same rate and are batting in the same style. Boundaries galore were glistening around the pitch and the Australian bowlers were having a terrible time. It happened yesterday in the first session and it's happening again today. Could Bangladesh go a whole 2 hours, a complete session, without losing a wicket? Well if they do then at least they can say that they got their highest third wicket partnership of 133 against the Aussies.

Oh and you know I said do you think they can survive a whole session without losing a wicket? The answer is yes. 104 runs for no wicket in the first session of Day Five is a dream start for Bangladesh and they have a chance here! Australia fell apart in the second session yesterday after having an awesome first session so the same could happen today. The Bangladesh supporters will definitely be rooting for their team all the way.

Day Five Lunch Interval - Bangladesh 182/2(require 136 runs to win)
Islam 78*
Bashar 65*
Gillespie 1-34
Lee 1-65

Bangladesh are at the exact same score as Australia were yesterday after the first session, but have one wicket to their advantage. Bangladesh soon brought up the 200 as everyone in the ground and round the world alike were in amazement. After a 6 from captain Bashar, all Bangladesh needed was 100 runs with 8 wickets in hand. No-one could really believe on how well they were really doing. Both of the batsmen were now into the nervous nineties and closing in on their centuries. Naeem Islam was only 6 runs away from his second century on his debut.

That was that. Naeem Islam had probably made a historic record. Two centuries on his debut against Australia, who were the best in the world at every format. 195 balls for his century, 26 balls quicker than his century in the first innings. If Bashar and Islam can keep this going then they have a chance of victory.

Islam 100* off 195 balls

A few overs later and Bashar duly brought up his 100. He was unlucky not to get a century in his first innings but in this innings he has done what he did wrong, right. His century came quicker, only off 181 balls and the partnership between Islam and Islam was now at awesome heights, 211 runs.

Bashar 100* off 181 balls

Unfortunately the partnership was soon over... oh wait no it's not! Stuart Clark came into the attack and bowled Islam out for 104 but the Umpire signaled for a no ball. Bangladesh can count their lucky stars for definite! 3 hours and 45 minutes into the day and Australia decided to take the new ball as soon as it was offered. 15 minutes away from going two sessions without a wicket, that must surely be a record for Australia.

A wicket was nearly resulted soon after as 3 overs into the wicket and Watson nearly got Islam caught behind. Australia were so desperate without their main spinner Warne that they even resulted to using Ponting with the new ball. The Dinner interval was up and that marked 2 whole sessions without a wicket. 2 WHOLE SESSIONS! I would love to keep my calm but that is simply... well unheard off. 37 runs to win for Bangladesh and that would mark a remarkable win for Sir Ian Botham.

Day Five Dinner Interval - Bangladesh 281/2(require 37 runs to win)
Islam 121*
Bashar 117*
Gillespie 1-51
Lee 1-90

The 254 run partnership finally ended with captain Habibul Bashar getting out to Brett Lee for 119 runs. With only 30 runs to win, Bashar started to try and get the runs as soon as they could but trying got him out. 119 runs off 221 balls is a fantastic run rate against Australia and chasing in the last innings. Saleh was in now and hopefully this wicket won't trigger a collapse.

H Bashar - lbw Lee - 119(221)

A short while later and the 300 was up. Just before though and Islam was nearly gone. Gillespie bowled a straight one which seemed destined for the off stump until it had a hint of swing and hit Islam on the pads. The umpire however went against everyone in the stand and said it would not of hit the wicket. Bangladesh must have all the gods looking down on them today. Saleh and Islam took Bangladesh home with just under an hour left of the match, to record a historical victory for Bangladesh.

Naeem Islam has helped Bangladesh onto a win which would never of been expected. This incredible win means that Bangladesh will not lose the series, they will at least draw it. 137* for Islam gets him the man of the match as he averages 261. It was a team effort from everyone involved and they all came together. Whether it was people on their debuts or people that were incredibly young, even the old chipped in, it was a terrific match and I'm lost for words to describe it.

Thanks for the comments, Islam and Bashar weer both awesome.

2 hundreds on debut? What aggression did you bat on?

3 bars all the way with batsmen and 2 all the way with bowlers. If I'm feeling confident then I might move a batsmen up to 5 bars but not against a team like Australia.

Bangladesh win by 7 wickets

Finalcrop.jpg

Bangladesh have done the unthinkable; the unimaginable; the Botham-able. Sir Ian Botham was appointed coach of Bangladesh a week before their first Test match against World conquerors Australia and he has already recorded his first win. Many expected Australia to whitewash Bangladesh in both forms of the game but it seems that with the new coach in, they are all looking to impress him. With this historic win, Bangladesh will not lose the series; they will at least draw.

The first day of the Test match was very much in Australia's court. They had reached 260/5 at the end of the day and had two players in that were capable of scoring big. Michael Hussey and Shane Watson. The day didn't start too bad for either side as Matthew Hayden made 33. Captain Ricky Ponting only made 8 runs as Bangladesh seemed to control the first session, leaving the Aussies on 80/2. They couldn't find many more wickets in the day and after a wicket less second session, things weren't looking good. Thanks to two late wickets though, they had given themselves a good chance of getting Australia out for a poor score. Justin Langer and Phil Jaques were two of the performers. Michael Hussey was the big batsman of the day, collecting 116* runs off the Bangladesh tight bowling attack

The second day of the Test match was in Bangladesh's hands very much so. They got the last 5 wickets of Australia for 135 runs and bowled to the death rather well. Watson could only make 5 and then it was left to Michael Hussey to bat with the tail in which he got 163, a big score. 395 was the score posted by Australia, which is still a good score. In came Bangladesh with the worst start possible. Nafees only made 2 runs off 8 balls before getting out to McGrath. Despite the early wicket, Bashar and Omar brought Bangladesh back into the match. Omar fell just before his half century for 41 runs but Bashar got his half century. Bashar and Islam then put on a good partnership before Bashar got out to the last ball of the day by McGrath. It ended the day not as well as Bangladesh wanted but they wouldn't grumble at the current situation.

At the end of day three in the First Test Match and Australia were in the lead by 114 runs with 8 wickets in hand which must of mean the day was theirs? Not particularly. Bangladesh managed to score 351 against a good bowling attack with Naeem Islam impressing with 124 in his first ever innings for Bangladesh. Australia lost two early wickets at the end of day three as both of the openers failed and got out for 17 runs. Ponting however was batting strongly on 28* and with Phil Jaques still at the crease as well, Australia were in prime position on 70/2. They were definitely in control and were no doubt look for 300 or more yet again. Bangladesh would need a fantastic innings from a select individual.

The fourth day started brilliantly for Australia as they only lost one wicket for 112 runs in the first session. Ricky Ponting got 74 runs being the only wicket but they were runs. Jaques brought up his 50 before Langer got out for 44 in similar fashion to that in Bangladesh's first innings when Bashar got his 50 then Omar got out for 41. Australia then had a mini collapse, then a full collapse. From 220/4 to 273 all out, it wasn't the best of performances. They would of wanted at least 350 to have a 400 run lead but they had to settle with a lead of 317. Bangladesh's chase started as poor as normal as Nafees and Omar both went early on. This meant that Bashar and Islam both had to bat well once again. They accepted the challenge and fought till the end of the day without further loss. Bashar and Islam got Bangladesh to 78/2 needing 240 off the last day with 8 wickets in hand. Not easy, but not impossible either.

The fifth day was a brilliant day for cricket everywhere outside of Australia. Everyone in every country apart from Australia were egging Bangladesh on to a win, which they somehow managed. Bashar and Islam both brought up their 50's in the same over in the first session and were almost batting identically as there was only 1 ball difference in how fast it took them. They weren't chasing the score down slowly either, scoring 104 runs in the first session without loss. If you thought that was good then you were in for a treat. They went a second whole session without losing a wicket as Islam and Bashar were playing out of their skins and both bringing up their centuries. Both batsmen were playing like true champions and made it so that Bangladesh only needed 37 runs to win at Dinner on Day Five. They had 8 wickets in hand and a win was inevitable. How had they go into this position? Unfortunately both Bashar and Islam couldn't end at the crease together as Bashar went for an immaculate, incredible and indispensable 119 off only 221 balls. He captained Bangladesh fantastically during the match and has offered to great knocks as well. Islam then took Bangladesh home with Saleh as Bangladesh recorded a comfortable win over the best side in the world. Mind blowing.

This series has started fantastically! Bangladesh were already on a high after getting Sir Ian Botham as a coach but he seems to of worked wonders in as a little as a week and Bangladesh are looking a whole different team. They look confident and look like they are enjoying themselves. Bar a few players, Australia look the complete polar opposite. They weren't enjoying their time out on the pitch and were getting frustrated and angered at the prospect of losing to such a poor side, which eventually happened. Could they really lose the first series of the year to give Sir Ian Botham a simply remarkable start?

We'll soon find out, with the 12 Bangladesh players for the second Test being announced in the next few days. Will they get another historic result?

Islam's two centuries and Sunny's 5 wicket haul in the second innings really turned the game for Bangla. Great update as usual Jaz.:clap
