Story Bangladesh Begin Blissful Age [India In Bangladesh]

Bangla needs to take wickets if they want to win. Nice update Jaz :clap

End Of Day Four

Two days gone in the match and Australia were in control. A brilliant third day for Bangladesh though has seen them into a surprising position. A rain troubled day was not what Australia wanted as they couldn't get into their stride and into their momentum. A big part of their play. Bangladesh took advantage of this, by making a massive last wicket partnership and getting 3 quick wickets. A draw is on the cards here, but with two days left, either team can win. It's a blockbuster.

The players made their way to the outfield with the sun blaring out overhead. Jaques and Langer started duly well and got the runs on the board quickly. Not long into the session and Australia had got their lead to 200 runs. Not long into the session, Bangladesh had got their wicket. Justin Langer was batting incredibly fast, 22 runs off 14 balls today, and went for one ball to many. Saleh caught the ball with a one handed dive to his right as Sunny picks up his second wicket. 92/4 means that Bangladesh have got the start they wanted for definite. They could get Australia all out for 200 or less at this rate.

J Langer - c Saleh b Sunny - 31(47)

Gilchrist was in and he would be able to smash the spin bowlers all over the park. This triggered Hossain back into the attack. Australia were in motion now and where knocking the balls everywhere. Bangladesh's luck seemed to of died down once again. Sunny bowled a beach of a delivery to Gilchrist which seemed destined for the wicket, only for the umpire to deem otherwise. They could of done with that wicket.

The Australians finally won a session, which they seemingly hadn't for a while, and ended the session with no further loss. Jaques and Gilchrist have both batted supremely well against the bowlers and the spinners have been beaten, whilst Hossain has had no effect. The sun needs to die down and the weather needs to turn in Bangladesh's favour if they want to win. 100 runs for one wicket, easily in Australia's favour.

Day Four Lunch Interval - Australia 169/4(lead by 285 runs)
Gilchrist 42*
Jaques 41*
Sunny 2-53
Rafique 1-43

Soon enough and both batsmen had brought up their half century. They were batting in sync together and were putting on a remarkable partnership. Neither spin nor seam could dismantle this partnership as both batsmen turned on their thinking caps, and plucked the holes beautifully. They both brought up their half centuries in the same over, with Gilchrist only just beating Jaques to his. These two are showing why they are in the team, with these innings.

Gilchrist 50* off 116 balls

Jaques 50* off 140 balls

The honeymoon was over and the wicket was finally taken. Just after bringing up the 100 run partnership, Adam Gilchrist got out to Hossain. Finally the seam payed off and Hossain picked up his second wicket, clean bowling Hossain in emphatic fashion. Gilchrist's innings was still a wonder to behold as he batted fast, but not too fast, and complimented Jaques batting as well. He's cemented his ODI place with that performance I'd say. 194/5 and Australia now have a lead of 310 runs. A draw is the result I think we'll see.

A Gilchrist - b Hossain - 53(121)

Shane Watson was in, another batsman who liked to play spin. The foundations of the Australian innings was crumbling. Phil Jaques was removed from the pitch by youngster Arafat Sunny as many assume a collapse might be happening. 58 is an improvement on his last score in the first innings and is more of the form he displayed in the first match. He has impressed during this tour for definite.

P Jaques - c Saleh b Sunny - 58(166)

Brett Lee was in and with such a strong pace preference, perhaps he wouldn't last long? You sure got that right. A 2 ball duck was all Lee could muster before he got out to Arafat Sunny. 4 balls, 2 wickets and 2 dot balls. What an over so far. Brett Lee was bowled by Sunny quite easily as he played all around a full length delivery which didn't have much spin or anything, but the mere slowness of the ball must of deceived him. 200/7 with a lead of 316, Australia are still in control but will need to stick it out till Dinner.

B Lee - b Sunny - 0(2)

Sunny then finished up his over with 2 dot balls which meant a double wicket maiden for the 19 year old. A perfect over to put the game back in the balance. Shane Warne and Shane Watson both are players of spin and with the new ball offered, you would of thought Bangladesh would of taken it. They didn't. This tactic was used in the last match and worked evidently well. It was definitely a risk...

... that resulted in a wicket! With no further runs added to the score, Australia lose their 8th wicket. Their last four wickets have fallen for only six runs, a classic Battrick collapse. Watson only managed 2 runs before spinner Rafique upturned his stumps, not doing as well as expected. Apart from his 69er in the last innings, he has done nothing off note with the bat. His only decent bowling performance was 3-50 in the first match which marks a very very average Series for Watson.

S Watson - b Rafique - 2(10)

Rafique then got dot balls for the rest of his over, and after Sunny's brilliant two wicket maiden the over before, a one wicket maiden in this over was just what we wanted. Three wickets in two overs for no wickets. The spinners kept on bowling till the 90th over when Bangladesh finally decided to take the new ball. Warne and Gillespie would have to face Hossain and Islam before Sunny came back into the attack. How would the new ball fare?

Bangladesh nearly got lucky with Warne missing a straight bowl from Hossain and missed his leg stump by inches, as the ball seamed immensely. The 250 mark soon came up for Australia and then the runs were coming even after then. Australia were scoring runs and were scoring runs very easily. They even survived till lunch without losing another wicket. Gillespie and Warne both batted well and evaded the bowlers sensationally well with not many chances occurring for the bowlers. Australia had come back from their poor position and were now way in control with such a big lead.

Day Four Dinner Interval - Australia 279/8(lead by 383 runs)
Gillespie 35*
Warne 30*
Sunny 4-90
Rafique 2-57

Gillespie couldn't last long in the last session of the day. He nearly got out to Supreme Spinner Sunny in the first over after Dinner but eventually got out the next over. Another batsman had been bowled and Rafique it was with the wicket. Rafique and Sunny have led by example with the bowling in this match. Gillespie has played his part in the match though, getting a very respectable 36. 1 more wicket required to get for Bangladesh and trailing by 384 runs, it isn't looking too good. They might not be able to last a whole day without everyone getting out either.

J Gillespie - b Rafique - 36(81)

McGrath was the last victim, with Warne only adding 5 to the total meaning Australia managed 273 all out off 107 overs. Arafat Sunny picked up his fifth wicket of the innings and his eighth of the match. He has bowled impeccably well and has been supported by Rafique as both bowlers use each other to their advantage. The delivery it self was nothing special and was a standard bowl from Sunny which seemed to just go through the gate of Glenn McGrath. This left Warne not out on 35.

Australia scored 237 runs in their second innings to set Bangladesh 389 runs off 1 day and just over half a session. Would Bangladesh go for the win or would they go for a draw? Jaques and Gilchrist led from the front with 4 batsmen also helping in the search of a big score. The tail end added some valuable runs to the final score and have helped Australia bucket loads. Bangladesh have only 10 batsmen as well so will have even more of a disadvantage. They've got it all to do.

Change of Innings - Australia 273(lead by 390 runs)
Jaques 58
Gilchrist 53
Sunny 5-96
Rafique 3-57

Omar and Saleh both come to the crease, following their terrible first innings scores where they both score 0 runs. 1 hour and 30 minutes till the end of the day so we will no doubt see some scintillating action here today. Thankfully for Bangladesh, both surpassed their past score. The boundaries were coming and there was nearly a moment of misery as Omar was soon at the hands of the umpire. A straight delivery from Brett Lee, with no seam or swing, caught Omar on the pads but the umpire decided it was going slightly over the stumps. For once, he was right.

Saleh was batting slightly faster than Omar and was oozing quality all over the shop. He was firing his shots in every direction and had everyone in the ground guessing, even his own coach sometimes. The 50 run opening partnership was soon up as Bangladesh were playing much better than they had in the first innings. The pitch would be the exact same tomorrow as it is in the last session, so they could go on to win this. Rajin Saleh then brought up his first half century of the series. He has played a vital part in this innings so far after being quite quiet this series. If he can keep this batting going and the ability to find the holes in the field then there is no reason he can't go on to make a century.

Saleh 50* off 62 balls

Bangladesh then scored 4 runs off the last over of the day to creep over the 100 run mark. They have definitely had the better of the last session with Omar and Saleh both batting out of their skins. They have reached 103/0 which is 103 runs more than they got in the first innings! The Australian bowlers haven't bowled well thus far but with the batsmen scoring as well as they have so far, that isn't that much of a surprise. One day to go and with 287 runs to win, it seems there will be a result. Tomorow will be a series decider.

End of Day 4 - Bangladesh 103/0(require 287 runs to win)
Saleh 57*
Omar 35*

Another brilliant update, sir. Good to see you put so much effort into your stories.

Its great that you still have another chance to win the test. Just got to hope there is no collapse.

Cheers for the posts guys, appreciated as much as ever. Hoping for a great last day to end a great Test series for us, it's still a challenge to get a draw/win and win the series. If we do it'll be emphatic.

Like I said though, cheers to all who have posted thus far. Keeps us writers motivated.

A nice comeback by Bangla there.Still have one day in hand. If they bat good and loose few wickets then they can win this match and win the series.
Good update Jaz KIU.

Its still anybody's game. Mcgrath and Warne can pick up 10 wickets in a day. What will Bangladesh do? Bat out the 90 overs or go for the win? Exciting write up mate.

The Result Is In; Who Won?

This match could go all the way to the end. The match is certainly in the balance as Bangladesh have made a miraculous comeback after starting the match poorly. They have clawed their way back into the match and now require 287 runs to win with 9 wickets in hand. It could go either way although the bookies favourites are still Australia. The top order for Bangladesh will have to be resilient for a Bangladesh win. Will Bangladesh win the series or will they draw it? We will have a result by the end of the day.

Overnight from yesterday's day, Saleh was unbeaten on 57 and Omar was just short of his half century on 35. Could he get his 50? The day started well for Bangladesh with the first few overs seeing many runs come. The only unfortunate event was that, a wicket also occurred. Rajin Saleh was on his way back to the pavilion after reaching 58 runs. He did much better than his first innings but would of no doubt liked to of carried on to get his century.

Saying that, 114 for the opening stand isn't too shabby. Brett Lee was the bowler to get the wicket, managing to catch his man as well. 114/1 now and with 276 runs to win, Bangladesh need a bit of luck. Captain Habibul Bashar into the attack now, following his duck in the first innings. He needs the form from the first match.

R Saleh - c & b Lee - 58(75)

Habibul Bashar was definitely now in as he scored his first 15 runs off 15 deliveries. It seems Bangladesh are definitely going for the victory here. Javed Omar soon brought his half century up after defending many balls for not so many runs. The first half century of the Series for the 29 year old has come at a good time for Bangladesh, as they try to hunt down the Australian's score. 113 balls isn't a bad attempt at a quick half century either, with them not needing to bat so quickly. Bashar is the man to score quickly with Omar playing more defensively. A good plan here from Bangladesh.

Omar 50* off 113 balls

Shortly after Omar brought up his half century, his partner and his captain was out. Habibul Bashar couldn't foresee the delivery from Gillespie attack him ferociously at his legs and he could only edge it through to the awaiting Gilchrist. Bashar has had a good series averaging 78 from the two matches. The first Test match was better for him but he has picked himself up well in the second innings and has batted fast. He will be indispensable in the One Day Internationals. 148/2 means 242 is what the required runs is now and with Islam and Ashraful still to come in, it is possible.

H Bashar - c Gilchrist b Gillespie - 28(35)

Naeem Islam only made 12 in the first innings after making back to back centuries on his debut in the last match and will want to go into the One Day Internationals in good form, so a good innings is crucial for the youngster. He nearly gave away his wicket though after being on 4* from 5 balls as he edged a bowl from Gillespie, only for it to fall just short of the slips. A few overs later and he had once again been very lucky. Shane Warne generated alot of spin from his delivery which he always seems to do, almost getting Islam out for lbw.

Warne did get a wicket 2 overs later though, with Javed Omar finally going back to the pavilion. A good innings for the defensive batsman but he needed to stay in longer. With Kabir injured, Bangladesh can only lose 6 more wickets before losing the match. They need 225 runs to win before they lose those wickets. Omar was unlucky to get out to Warne as the lbw appeal seemed to be a tad lack lustered, with the ball seeming to go down the leg side. The umpire thought otherwise and chose to bring Ashraful into the attack, sending Omar back. 165/3.

J Omar - lbw Warne - 53(142)

Ashraful had anything but a steady start to his innings, offering chances to the bowlers left, right and center. Bangladesh however slowly made their way to 200 runs before losing their next wicket, meaning they needed 190 runs to win. The way they got over the 200 mark? A brilliant six from Ashraful, timed to perfection.

Islam and Ashraful then batted their way through the last few overs to remain together at lunch. Both of the batsmen had picked themselves up and had batted soundly after both having a shaky start to their innings. Naeem Islam is only a few runs away from his first Test half century which would cap a sensational series for him. Ashraful is on his way to another wonderful innings after setting a record in the first innings. Bangladesh are, touch wood, in control.

Day Five Lunch Interval - Bangladesh 220/3(require 170 runs to win)
Islam 41*
Ashraful 23*
Gillespie 1-40
Warne 1-53

Ashraful and Islam's batting was really complimenting each others batting styles and Australia were struggling to get the next wicket. After staying in the 40s for quite a while, Islam finally decided to get a single and bring up his half century. After back to back centuries in his debut, he scored a mere 12 in his last innings, but has brought back his match winning form in the last match. He has given Bangladesh a very much needed half century and with the One Day Internationals just round the corner, this performance could be the beginning of his career. Not many people can boast 2 centuries and 1 half century in their first ever series against Australia.

Islam 50* off 75 balls

Shortly after Islam bringing up his half century, the partnership brought up its own milestone. These two had put on 100 runs together now and weren't looking like that would be stopping anytime soon. Ashraful has really given Sir Ian Botham a dilemma as he has brought up his half century, meaning he has easily been the best player in this match for Bangladesh. He scored the highest individual innings ever for Bangladesh in the first innings and has already started this innings well. His very attacking style of play and his form combined means he could be a force in the One Day Internationals.

Ashraful 50* off 115 balls

With the 125 run partnership up and Bangladesh only need 95 runs to win off 2 hours and 28 minutes, Australia decided to take the new ball, bringing McGrath and Lee back into the action. The second over with the new ball, and in Lee's first over, saw the wicket that Australia had been searching so long for. Mohammad Ashraful was the man gone as the young attacking batsman went to hit Lee out of the ground, but failed to make any contact with the ball, thus venturing his stump out of the ground.

His 61 runs and his invaluable partnership with Islam has helped Bangladesh massively, giving them the upper hand in this match. 299/4 and with 5 wickets till they are all out, 91 runs should be easy. 91 runs isn't that many to get with that many wickets in hand and Islam could even get his third century of the season! Islam is in which means both Islams are at the crease... This could get confusing!

M Ashraful - b Lee - 61(131)

Islam has batted twice so far this season and has only scored 2 and 3 respectively. In his second ball he hit a boundary which meant he had already got his highest score of the series(!). He smashed his way to the Dinner interval with Naeem scoring rather slowly. The partnership was 31 runs and Manjural Islam had scored 24 of those runs. Bangladesh have got the match in the bag now unless they have a major batting collapse.

Day Five Dinner Interval - Bangladesh 330/4(require 60 runs to win)
Islam 86*
Islam 24*
Lee 2-83
Gillespie 1-57

Runs came at the start of the last session but with those runs came a wicket. Islam was out. But which one? The Islam which was out was... Manjural. 30 runs was what he could muster and off 39 balls was a great achievement. Gillespie was the man to get out the all rounder to pick up his second wicket of the innings. Rahim would now come in to try and make sure Bangladesh win the match. Lets just hope they don't have a Battrick Collapse. 345/5 and needing 45 runs to win. Islam is well on his way for another century and to take Bangladesh home. Player of the series for definite.

M Islam - lbw Gillespie - 30(39)

Islam has hit two boundaries off two balls from Warne to bring up his third century in two matches against Australia! Considering this is his first ever Series, his debut, that is just simply stunning. Not only was it a fantastic achievement, it was also very quick. 154 balls was the amount it took him and he has seriously been the batsman of the Series. He has made yet another match winning knock and has alerted media all around the world. Islam for president.

Islam 100* off 154 balls

8 runs to win... 7 runs to win... 3 runs to win! A terrific boundary from wicketkeeper Rahim has brought Bangladesh even closer to the result they want. Appeal for a catch behind! Rahim went for a big hit down the ground but missed the ball completely, but the bat struck his own pads which made a noise. The umpire hesitated before shaking his head. Next ball; boundary. Bangladesh have won the match! Bangladesh have whitewashed Australia 2-0 in a Test Series!

Islam and Rahim took Bangladesh home with their 47* partnership but that was overshadowed by Bangladesh's whitewash. Australia haven't been whitewash ever by Bangladesh and history is made yet again. The match started poorly for Bangladesh with Australia scoring big and then Kabir getting injured. They batted well in the first innings before bowling out Australia for a poor score, considering what they were looking for. Nobody expected what happened though, giving Bangladesh a massive 5 wicket win for the Test Series. Stay tuned for a match report of a historical match. Sir Ian Botham and Bangladesh, take a bow.

Update will come after my football training.

Wow! I can't believe you won! Brilliant stuff Jaz. Great scores all round from the Bangladesh batsmen, Ashraful playing another helpful innings and Islam playing top class!
