Have they changed the tyre wear since I last played? And do we have to use both tyres in the race?

I'm planning on doing a long stint on the hard tyres but if the tyre wear is ridiculous I may have to rethink.

I saw something along the lines of 'tyre cliffs' I'm sure.

Yeah, I imagine with my current tyre settings I may well hit that cliff and go about 20 miles past it, haha.
