Urgh... Should've wrapped them under 250 but we let Shadab Khan get away with extra runs that are probably going to end up hurting us in the end. I hope our batting doesn't let us down, but against a bowling attack of Adelaide's calibre, chasing 282 may already be a foregone conclusion.

Also. Great job with the presentation @wasteyouryouth. You may have a future with this. :spy

I was expecting 350 after that start. Jewell was phenomenal, never expected this innings from him. Waste and Gambhir brought us bad luck. Gambhir was reciting spells against Kohli the whole time, that’s why he couldn’t accelerate. Waste's malicious presence was not good for our middle order, they collapsed quickly. Thankfully Shaddy is immune to such nonsense.
We will call an exorcist in the innings break to free ourselves from Gambhir's and Waste's curses, and i am sure we will defend this total

BIG BASH FINAL

glqlO94.png
Perth Scorchers v Adelaide Strikers
An7vcAi.png

Previously on the wasteyouryouth show... After batting first, the @ABDULLAH and @CerealKiller led Adelaide Strikers scored 281 for 8 in their 50 overs. Now for the response from Perth Scorchers. After enjoying a half-time beverage or three and some complientary meat pies I settled back into my reclining chair. Through my binoculars, I can see @Na Maloom Afraad & @TSPrathik in the huddle giving their Scorchers a team talk. They look confident, but so do the Strikers openers as they stride to onto the ground. One can only hope that they are able to deliver us a decent run chase.

What a time to be sat next to Gautam Gambhir. Steve Smith had sauntered to the crease, performed his bizarre routine preparation and then Shaheen stormed in. An uncharacteristic waft outside off stump from Smith caught the edge. It flew into the safe hands of Virat Kohli and then right out of them. "I TOLD YOU! I TOLD EVERYONE. EVERYONE!" shouted GG, waving a pointed finger around the room. How embarrassing.

A long, hard fought innings, but it had to come to an end. It was that man Afridi, brought back to take a wicket, with the Adelaide Strikers were desperate for one. Smith, who hadn't hit a six in his innings, attempted to swat a wide, short delivery from Afridi over cover. Sadly, his bat slipped out of his hand, hit the ball in mid-air and redirected it's trajectory to long on, where Joe Root stood ready to take the catch and give the Adelaide Strikers a glimmer of hope. A glimmer of hope for the Strikers again.

Turner, an after looking solid for so long, was undone by a beauty from Ashton Agar. The slow left arm spin proving too much for the batter as if went on straight and clattered into the wickets. This match is not over yet!

Having run out of bowling options, going in search of wickets, the 48th over was not the best time to bring on Joe Root. It proved to be the case as Raza and then Sam's took him down, scoring 13 runs. The target coming every closer. But, they still need 21 from the final 12 balls. WasteViz says 45% v 65%.

I'm not sure if my nerves can take it. Joe Root bowling the final over with 14 runs needed to win. The Yorkshireman started well, conceding one from his first two balls. Sams was then able plunder a boundary in a gap at deep point. Runs needed down to 9 from 3 balls. (WasteViz 50/50).

On the fourth ball Sams and Raza took a single, it was a tight one, but they got home. The pendulum, swings to Strikers.

The fifth delivery looked destined to reach the boundary, everyone in the VIP lounge was out of our seats cheering (sorry @cerealkiller and @ABDULLAH ) as the ball raced towards the boundary. Out of nowhere though, Caleb Jewell, a hero with the bat, slid across the ground and managed to pull the ball back inches before it hit the rope. For some reason, no one was there to help him out and as he got back to his feet and through the ball in, the batters had got home for three runs.
One ball to go. Five to win.

In comes Joe Root, anything less than a boundary to secure victory for his team. What's this? He tries something different, his trademark bouncer. Fired in, it catches Sams by surprise. The Australian could only swing in desperate hope but he connected. The ball disappeared up into the night sky. You could hear a pin drop in the stadium. Everyone looking up to see where the ball had gone. I couldn't see it myself, the hack from Sams had power but did it have distance? After what felt like an eternity, the silence was broken.

'FATTED! Better call NASA, cause that's gone into orbit!' a voice exclaimed from the back of the VIP box.

Our heads turned away from the infield action. There he was, stood in between two cheerleaders, in a glorious Hawaiian shirt and porkpie hat: Danny Morrison himself. You can take a commentator out of the box, but you can't take the box out of the commentator... no, no that doesn't work. :facepalm

I looked at Danny, Danny looked at me, Gautam looked at Danny, I looked at the cheerleaders, we all looked at each other and laughed heartily.

In the background, beneath the sound of laughter; Fireworks! Pop music! Cheers of the crowd! The Scorchers and their coaches were jumping in delight. On the sidelines @cerealkiller and @ABDULLAH were in shock. Falling to their knees in anguish, you could see the sadness in their eyes. A heartbreaking way to lose the match.

Perth Scorchers win with a six from the very last ball! A heroic run chase and magnificent end to the tournament.

Great Work on the league @Pinch hitter bhai, you always bring a different vibe to a league with different stuff, this league was about GIFs at the end of the game, followed each game for this aspect, disappointed that this wasn't continuing after 2021 when it came back, I wasn't active enough. looking forward to your next leagues

Bumrah against Shaheen
Kohli against Smith

only if Williamson were available to play, we would've seen Fab 4 fight in a finale
