BCCI moves against Lanka

Sri Lanka's interim board dissolved, Ranatunga sacked

Cricinfo - Sri Lanka's interim board dissolved, Ranatunga sacked

so i guess BCCI will remove any thing and every thing that comes their way? any one who goes against them will be killed? even if its ICC....
Ummm.... how about the actual reason that the SLC used to sack him: that he confirmed the tour of Pakistan without actually discussing it with the board. The propensity to imagine ridiculous theories bemoaning the BCCI's activities, on these forums is getting quite out of hand, I think.

EDIT: It is also amusing to see Ranatunga being praised by the so-called "Western" cricketing fraternity now, when he has been one of the most controversial characters to play the game, especially for the "Western" teams.

Yeah, anything goes wrong, it's the BCCI or an Indian member's fault on PC. Getting sick of it now. Don't really care if you start flaming at me now so save it.

Should be interesting to see why Ranatunga was fired. It might have to do something with the financial crisis of SLC and that he wasn't able to do anything to get them out of it? I'm not sure if they still are in a little bit of a rut financially btw.

Or even when something goes right, as it happens.

I read in the ToI this morning that he was fired because he was not taking player/board concerns into mind when approving of the tour of Pakistan. Apparently he conveyed confirmation to the PCB without consulting both those parties, which is pretty ridiculous given a security situation exists.

Why do People post about things of the have "no idea" about it? (the 2nd poster of this page)
They are here to criticize one of the richest and successful board and also they are JEALOUS

No one is jealous of the BCCI, chetan. They are single handly destroying International Cricket. That is why majority hates them.

Also Sohum, what happened to moderators trying not to cause issues, between members. From where I looking your first post in this page seems to be trying to incite some sort of fight, having a little sly bitch at members who criticise the BCCI.....

They Brought in IPL *Nothing wrong here

They un-authorized ICl *Wrong

Please get me more Tom.:)

If someone thinks that Indians unconditionally love the BCCI, the ICL and the interest it generates as a rebel league is proof enough that Indians are sick of the corruption the BCCI has brought upon us for all these years. And they also make the Indians look bad by their behaviour.

Are you trying to be funny, Chetan? In no way am I being sarcastic, it is an honest question

*Sigh* We need more like you with actual common sense. I am fully aware there must be plenty of sensible people fed up of the BCCI. It is just the loud mouths here, who sway opinions.

Just because they do a few debatable things does not mean everything they do is debatable. Neither is it right to say that everytime something goes wrong in world cricket it's BCCI's fault.

ZOMGG THE BCCI HAS DESTROYED SRI LANKAN CRICKET ZOMGGGG.

They obviously had Ranatunga brainwashed, and it was their masterplan all along to cancel the India tour, put the Sri Lankan players under supposed threat, and still take all the revenue. Obviously.

If your first response to what has happened to the SLC and Ranatunga is to blame the BCCI, you are an imbecile.

The decision to dissolve the present SLC administration was taken by an official within the Sri Lankan government, namely the Sports Minister. How asinine would you have to be to think that the BCCI, a non-political organization that governs Indian cricket, has the ability to coerce a government official of a sovereign nation to take such an action.

There is an article at Cricinfo which contains other more plausible explanations for why the dissolution occurred. Ranatunga apparently decided to fire 16 employees of the SLC of his own accord without consulting the Sports Minister. That was only the final straw against him. Prior to this incident, he had committed the Sri Lankan team to a tour of England without consulting the players themselves, who were contracted to play in the IPL,. He had also unilaterally committed the team to a tour of Pakistan without a security review.

Aside from these salient infractions, the Cricinfo article also states that there was a "constant difference of opinion" between Ranatunga and the Minister. If, in the face of this evidence, you still wish to conjure up ludicrous theories to hold the BCCI culpable, you, again, have to be an imbecile.

Here's the article: http://content-ind.cricinfo.com/srilanka/content/current/story/384150.html

Ok I am man enough to admit that I might have been wrong here on this occassion regarding the BCCI. However, the point that the BCCI are destroying International Cricket through their control over the ICC is still valid and which is why I will continue to despise the BCCI.
