Can we get some new umpires?

I think all players who dont have chance of playing should apply for umpiring. This way they will be more famous. Look hows life changed for Asad Rauf.

Maybe all the ICL players ?

Poor ICL. They will get even more poor.

Umpiring though is easy in T20. No close bat pads, no faint knics as all knicks are hard and no LBW mayhem (some will happen though) as batsman usually get cleaned up as bowled.

Hello what is it with Steve Bucknor you guys, Gilly_Fan and de rest, I mean you guys are all up on Bucknor like you have not see errors made before, please, get real, you speak of him wearing glasses, and I guess by this lack of virtue he should not umpire? If thats the case then what of Mr. Rudi Koertzen, he does not wear any and makes just as bad and telling mistakes and they are not alone, even the golden boy Aussie Simon Taufel is guilty of the same. Please don't be hitting on Bucknor, he is not worst than the rest of his peers. Everyone of them and I mean ALL have made bad calls that have swayed and even won matches for the other side, and my friends this goes long before some of us were born, thanks to technology we can sit at our homes and computers and be judgemental, have varying opinions in the end some of us would not last an over out there.

Dunno about Rudi,but where on earth is Mr.Simon Taufel ? Or did he take a break ? I heard a rumor that he wants to walk away from cricket after his contract expires this year.

Steve Bucknor needs to give up umpiring.He is old and cannot make proper decisions as was evident from the Sydney Test of 2007. I need not reiterate
what happened there.
The problem is,that of late , he has been giving out as many as 4-5 bad decisions in a match whihc is not acceptable.The others do make mistakes,but Bucknor repeats them.

Icyman get a life, until you can put stats together for all the EPU I respect your opinion. You hitting on Bucknor makes no difference, he is there the same way Hair is back, when I look at it, if you looking for umpires that have turned cricket up side down, it would have to be Hair for his bias against the Pakistanis and cricket more than 100 years existence.
You are an expert, spend some time, put the stats together and put it out here for all to see.

People wrote Bucknor off in 2003-04 and he came back to be one of the better umpires until that test between Australia and India.

I reckon he still is a better umpire than people like de Silva and Asad Rauf.

Bucknor has always been in the firing line.I still feel that he should atleast accept the fact that he made quite a few mistakes. Bucknor, has not yet done that. This is exactly what cost him a chance to umpire in the IPL too.

Secondly,as Dickie Bird has put it- Bucknor is well past the retirment age for umpires. I feel that the ICC needs to check whether you need such an umpire.

And also,quite a few captains rated him 'zero' on their match report.


Asad RAuf,well i accept he is not great.
Asoka de Silva-he was kicked out of the Elite panel and now he is back. Maybe he has improved. The same could be done for Bucknor as well.
