Car Flags

While I am supporting England, despite my bit of Welsh blood, but I'm the sort of person who will hang a flag out the window. Actually I was the most happy at this WC when Angola drew tonight.

Don't get me wrong, I am supporting England, and sort of proud to be English, but I'm not that patriotic.

Let me see, I've got a small 3*4 inch Spain flag hanging from my rear-view mirror, a Spanish flag keychain on my keys, and a 6*4 inch flag poking out of my pencil-cup on my desk - I'd say that I'm set to be a supporter of Spain. (By the way, if I had anything larger displayed all of the South and Central Americans living here in Tampa would probably shoot me. ;))

So who are you supporting then(!). Spain did better than I expected against Ukraine

I dont think its the flag flying in itself thats annoying. There is nothing wrong with that, its the cheapness of these car flags. They are tacky ?1.50 things bought from Petrol Stations. If you are going to fly the flag, at least to it properly. But dont worry DJ, in 3 weeks (possibly less) they will all be gone and people wont feel the need to remind you of their nationality as you drive down the motorways.

In Pakistan only Government cars are alowed with flags on the cars.. not normal citizens and also that normal citizens are also not allowed to put a flag on there house.. only on special days like Independence Day, 23rd March...

Yeah, I've seen a few Socceroos car flags lately, but not a huge amount. Anyway, I'm not really annoyed by it at all...

England isn't a real country. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a country. Note that there is no 'England' in the Olympics. There's some strange political definition, but England is not a sovereign nation. It all seems a bit complicated, so don't take offense.

By the way, I meant it tounge-in-cheek. I don't want to offend anyone! ;)

That link you gave contradicts yourself. It says that English, Northen Ireland, Scotland and Wales are a country inside a country. England is a real country as is Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. But together they make a stronger econimical nation, than if they were on their own.

I do realise you mean it tongue in cheek.

I bet he doesnt even know where it is :p

By the way, its near Paris in Scotland ;)

At least I'm not lying to you all ;). You know what, I don't think that anyone really knows (or cares). It all depends on how you define 'country.'

And I'll have you know that I know where loads of places are - I finished 12th in the state of Florida in Geography 3 years ago. Not really something to brag about, being as it's so darn nerdy. :D

England isn't a country?

:D

So how come England are playing at the World cup?

England is a country, just like Wales is.

Great Britain go to the Olympics, the individual nations to the Commonwealth.

And yes I also realise you mean it tongue in cheek, still rather bemused by that comment :D
