Derbyshire 1st Innings - 245 all out
M Di Venuto 49
C Reynolds 32
A Kumble 6-75
The rest of the first day I sat fully padded up, nervous even though I was batting at number 6, I was a little disappointed I didn?t get to bat at my preferred number 4 but I guess ill have to earn that right.
The next day I came in at 4 for 106 early in the morning and had to face my first ball against James Ormond it was a bouncer and James said to me ?Welcome to cricket, boy?. Next ball I nicked the ball through the slips and it went to the boundary and as I ran by Ormond he was furious at the missed opportunity and didn?t like the giant smile on my face as I ran by. Chris Taylor and I built a solid partnership until Anil Kumble came to bowl and he had me out first ball, which was caught by none other than James Ormond who returned to the pitch with an even bigger smile than the one I gave him. I was frustrated at getting out on 32 after making a solid start but I was met with applause from the boys when I reached the pavilion and it turned out to be the 2nd highest score in our total. Kumble went on to destroy the tail but we still had a good lead heading into the 2nd Innings.
Below: Anil Kumble's appeal is accepted on his way to 6-75
