snoop dizzle suggested to turn autosave off, so I've tried it and it worked.
I started an exhibition ODI, swapped a couple of players, bowled first over, saved the game, autoplayed till the end of the innings, saved the game again and quit c2k4. I restarted the game, with me now batting, and my changes were still there . Yeay, I can actually play a full game with Collingwood in my line up!
Remember everytime you start the game you'll have to go into options and turn autosave off. You may lose your trophies/stats etc, but hey....
Now to choose the opposition line up:confused: ...

Seems a long shot I know; I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned before (or has it?). I haven't checked it thoroughly, only as I described above, but the line up I chose didn't change mid-game.
Saptarshi, have you checked it out? Did it work for you too? There seems to be others it doesn't work for, so I would bank on it being a 'fix', but worth a try.

its not working for me so far .. I'll try diffrent scenarios to see if it works
