good little update there Craig! I must admit that would be a great signing if you do get Henok Goitom but I'm sure you have got other options just incase you don't get him.

Too right Audrey! Its about getting the right player though. Goitom is superb, and also Jefferson Farfan isn't bad either! But Farfan would cost me in the region of ?16mil, so I might not get either of those players. It depends on how things go.

Finished my cricket match, so expect regular news stories and my next game (Partick Thistle, Cup) will be up later on!

Oh and thanks Freddiw, so is your and your new one will be even better :p

Sorry about the delay guys, the update has taken a lot longer as I'm watching the EuroVison Song Contest as well :p Israel's is good, but I like Azerbaijan's for another reason ;)
Btw, its not against Partick Thistle, don't know whereI got that from! And this is the Scottish Tennents Cup semi against Brechin (AKA Scottish league Cup, not to be confused with the Scottish Cup!)

Celtic vs Brechin
Celtic Park

Today it was the semi final of the League Cup. We faced largely inferior opposition in Second Division side Brechin to try and book a lace in the final against Hearts to try and win my silverware as manager.

Hakan Yakin was out after slipping a disc in his back, and he may face several months on the sidelines. Vennegoor and Balde both returned.

Balde returned so he replaced Schneiderlin who dropped to the bench, also Vennegoor returned just in time to fill the gap Samaras left from his transfer to Genoa earlier this month.

Match Report:

CELTIC 4-0 BRECHIN
Bruins, McGeady, Koumas (2).

Brechin started the game massive underdogs, and we started a bit nervously. We looked rushed in possession and the long ball up to Riordan and Vennegoor. I shouted to the lads straight away to calm it down and take your time. After my shout we started to play much better, and we got our reward on 10 minutes. Koumas ran down the right, skipped past Brechin's left back David Wright, who brought him down. He was lucky to get away without a card, Aiden McGeady stepped up to take it, he whipped it in left footed and in came Luigi Bruins with a bullet header, well thats not what Brechin thought! They thought Bruins handled the ball and surrounded the referee, who was obviously not going to change his mind. The goal stood. 1-0. After the goal, we passed the ball about in a much more positive manor, and we doubled our lead on 22 minutes and what a strike to bring it up. A long ball from keeper Artur Boruc was headed down to Koumas by Riordan, Koumas took on touch and smashed a fantastic swerving effort straight into the top corner from all of 35 yards out. What a goal from the Welsh international. 2-0. 5 minutes later we scored a third. Placente and Duff made huge ground down the left with a simple one-two, Duff put in the most superb cross, and in flew Aiden McGeady with a diving header. Another superb goal. 3-0, and then we decided to do what we do best. Keep the ball, and this created another opening just before half time and it was Damien Duff again getting down the left and whipping another great cross in, Vennegoor's bullet header was saved but Jason Koumas had the easiest of tap-ins for his second goal of the game. 4-0 at half time, and I had to be pleased. We could now relax and enjoy the rest of the game. With the game just about won, I brought on Schneiderlin for some experience and he came on in place of Bruins.

We came out for the second half in a much more defensive mentality, we decided to keep the ball and play to our strengths as we would regret it if we pushed and pushed and a key player got injured, and it wasn't until 83 minutes when we got our first opportunity of the half, another long ball from Boruc was nodded on by Schneiderlin, Riordan ran onto it, pulled it back for Koumas to try and hit another wondergoal, all of the fans in the Celtic end stood up to celebrate the goal when it absolutely smashed into the crossbar. Inches from a hattrick Koumas. After this we pushed for the final 5 minutes, but we couldn't create any more openings. Full time and it was a great win for the boys and we looked forward to a great final against Hearts! No surprises as to who got MotM, Jason Koumas.

Koumas on top form again for the 'Bhoys'

CELTIC SIGN RUSSIAN STAR

Celtic have completed the sensational ?12.5mil signing of Russian star Andrey Arshavin. After Giorgios Samaras' departure from Celtic Park earlier this month, manager Craig Tough has promised a high profile arrival to all of the fans, but he left it late to do it! Arshavin signed on the dotted line 4 minutes and 39 seconds before the deadline and will be at Tough's disposal for the Tennents Cup final against Hearts. Arshavin attracted Tough's attention with his International record, Arshavin has scored 37 goals in just 39 appearances for Russia and has burst on to the International scene. Tough had been linked with moves for Murcia striker Henok Goitom and Aston Villa striker Jefferson Farfan but decided on Arshavin in the end and has said that there is no doubt in his mind that Arshavin will be a huge force next season and many seasons to come at 27 years old. Fans have made a U-turn after criticising Tough's dealings in the Transfer Market after Mark Wilson and Giorgios Samaras departed but after hearing the news, they have praised Tough as a 'Negotiational Genius' and believe Arashvin to be the signing of Celtic's history. One fan on Sky Sports News said that he believes Arshavin to be the 'New Henrik Larsson'. Arshavin goes by the nickname 'Нож' or 'The Knife' because of his ability to burst through defences and smash a shot home. He is most effective when running at defenders and smashing in long range shots, some call him 'The Russian Ronaldo' proving what ability thsi guy has.

What a bloody signing! Hows that Doctor Pepper :p

Celtic vs Partick Thistle: Scottish Cup 5th Round coming up...

what a signing! :D he will be banging in the goals!

1/2/09
Celtic vs Partick Thistle
Celtic Park

Today is our 5th round tie of the Scottish Cup against Partick Thistle. We were hot favourites again but we knew Thistle could cause us problems.

Yakin was obviously still out, but he was the only unavailable player, and what would get all of the Celtic fans into the stands, will be the highly anticipated debut of record signing, Andrey 'The Knife' Arshavin.

Arshavin replaced Riordan in only change.

Match Report:

CELTIC 3-0 PARTICK THISTLE
Bruins (2), Arshavin.

The game started very scrappily, with both sides losing possession quickly after they gained it, and it took us a quarter of an hour until we got a decet attack together. Duff dribbled down the left, played a one-two with Arshavin, Duff crossed and Vennegoor's header was unusually off target, although just to make certain former Coventry keeper Jonathan Tuffey tipped it wide for a corner, the corner was good but it resulted in open play. We finally got our act together on 22 minutes, and it was a trademark dart through the defence from the one, the only, Andrey Arshavin, this time he took it round the keeper and passed to Luigi Bruins who had the simple task of scoring. FANTASTIC work from Arshavin. After the goal, we were in total control, keeping the ball almost willingly at times and just knocked it about without creating anything up until half time. Half time, and it had been poor so far. We looked like we couldn't be bothered and we needed to finish this off. No changes.

We came out for the second half far more positive and attacking, however we weren't doing it with conviction, we kept losing the ball at vital stages of attack, that was until the 72nd minute when we finally got the second goal, McGeady had the ball 4 yards out, he took it oast one defender, backheeled it to Arshavin, who feinted one way and knocked the ball past the last defender and smashed past Tuffey in the Thistle goal. A fantastic debut goal for Arshavin and that was a goal and an assist on debut for the Russian star. Seconds later it was 3-0, we stole the ball from the kick off and The Knife got dribbling. He took it past 2 defenders, gave it to Bruins who smashed a shot from 20 yards, it took a deflection and sailed into the back of the net past Tuffey and that was 2 for Bruins. More great work from Arshavin on debut, from this point on, we kept the ball and held out until full time. We had got there in the end after an average performance, but the man who stood out above the rest was the debut boy, Andrey 'The Knife' Arshavin. What a game he had, and he hadn't failed to impress. He also walked away with the MotM award.

Arshavin celebrates a debut goal

what a signing! The russian ronaldo. bloody hell!

oh yeah and take off the poll lol

The Brechin game says "Celtic vs Stirling" ;)

Some fine wins, although all of them expected. Bruins and McGeady looking on fine form scoring lots of goals at the moment. A great investment in Arshavin! Relatively unkown but I guess for £12 mil he must be darn good. Samaras was working out, so you had every right to get rid of him.

Great work mate, keep it up :)

so an ok signing in Andrey Arshavin then:p. That is a very good signing for you I expect 35 goals from him the first full season.

I think he'll get around that. But still, what a bloody signing!!!!

Sorted that for you :p And yes, he is darn good! He is one of those fringe players, nobody really knows about but if you do the right searches you hit the jackpot!!!

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll start another update in a minute but it might take a while as I am watching the Monaco Grand Prix, which is going to be fantastic because its wet!! Loads of crashes :D Come on Lewis!

Guys. You aren't going to believe this, but I think this story has come to an end.
When I try to load my game it says 'Save game could not be loaded.'

I'll put some screenies up to see if you can help. If You can't, I'll start a new game but as manager of Celtic but I will have the old squad without Koumas, Arshavin, Bruins...

Sound good?

There it is guys.

covlad-99 added 9 Minutes and 29 Seconds later...

Right guys, here is what I'm going to do. I'll start a new game with Celtic, and we'll pretend that this is the start of my new challenge. So all of the games I have already played, and all of the players I have bought, they never happened :p

Really sorry guys, but its not all bad eh?

Yeah lol, I couldn't believe when we beat them. Living in Devon, there are a lot of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea supporters so I always get stick. But we all know who is the proper supporter :p Sorry kieron :p

So here is what I'm doing. Starting again with Celtic with the old squad, nakamura, Zurawski...

TOUGH ANNOUNCED AS CELTIC BOSS

Former Coventry City manager Craig Tough has been announced as the new Celtic manager after Gordon Strachan's resignation at the end of last season due to family reasons. Tough, a 31 year old who's footballing career was a successful one, making 268 appearances for Coventry and 12 appearances for England. Straight after retirement he joined Coventry as an assistant manager alongside Iain Dowie who was manager, until Dowie's sacking last season and Tough took charge. Tough was hugely impressive as Coventry boss, leading Coventry to their highest Championship finish, 4th but eventually losing out to Derby in the Play off final. Just 1 month later, Celtic approached the Sky Blues boss and Tough said it was an offer too good to refuse and he went with his head, rather than his heart which would have been to stay with the club in which he was born nearest to, and the onl club he played for in the whole of his career bar 3 loan moves to Huddersfield, Nuneaton Borough and and the tail end of his career, West Bromwich Albion.
In the Press Conference confirming Celtic's appointment Tough said he was sad he couldn't fulfill Coventry's dreams of Premiership football, however he knew they would get back where they belong in the near future and he very muched relished the challenge of the SPL, and he knows he has a great chance of picking up his first trophies as a manager in the highest ranked club in Scotland.
