Whey City getting a point at least. Basso is awesome in real life and he is exactly the same on the game. Kept you guys out and saved 2 points...

1 OUT OF BURNLEY CLASH

Coventry winger Julian Gray is out of the game against Burnley on 4th December. Gray picked up a knock after coming on as substitute in the 1-1 draw against Brostol City and straied his neck, although he is only expected to be out for a couple of weeks at most. Kevin Thornton picked up his 5th yellow card of the season, but won't be suspended for the Burnley game, as his ban starts on the 8th December. Manager Craig Tough, said it would be the perfect opportunity for one of his out-of-favour midfielders to step up to the task and show him what they are capable of.

LITMANEN STARTS LIGHT TRAINING

Coventry midfielder Jari Litmanen has resumed light training after signing on a free transfer last month after his release from Swedish outfit Malmo. Litmanen is yet to appear for the Sky Blues, bt says his long awaited debut isn't far on the horizon. Manager Tough says that he is struggling to find a consistent central midfield pairing, and the Litmanen may well fot the bill.

AWAY TIE FOR COVENTRY

Coventry City have been drawn away against Britsol City for their FA Cup 3rd Round cup tie. Coventry ave only just played Bristol City, the result being a disappointing 1-1 draw, in which Coventry had many chances. Craig Tough described the tie as 'tricky' but believes his Coventry side will overcome Bristol City.
Here is the full draw:

4/12/07

After a disappointing draw against Bristol City, it was on to Turf Moor, to face Owen Coyle's Burnley. Burnley were currently 12th in the league, Burnley had been very erratic so far, with soem great wins against Ipswich, and Colcester but also some very bad results against West Brom, Watford, Cardiff and Crystal Palace but needed the 3 points to get their promotion hopes back on track.

Injuries now. 3 out. Lee Martin was still out with a groin tear, Julian Gray had a sprained neck and I am pleased to announce that Jari Litmanen is only about a week away from a return from an achilles injury.

Now to the team news. No changes in the startng XI, but Stephen Hughes replaces Julian Gray on the bench.

We arrived at Burnley's Turf Moor with a much needed 3 points in mind. We hadn't been in bad form, but we knew that 3 points would certainyl go a long way in this league where anyone can beat anyone. We made our way to the dressing rooms and we had our usual chat about tactics, who to look out for and I wished my team luck and out we went onto the pitch for a 10 minute warm up.

A decent start, but the first chance came to Burnley, Robbie Blake won a ball in the air, Kyle Lafferty volleyed, but his effort was blocked on teh line and but bounced into Andy Marshall's grateful arms. The second chance fell to Burnley again, this time a hopeful ball into the box by Mahon, Lafferty jumped the highest, but his header sailed over the bar. On 17 mins, we had our first chance, Mifsud forced his way into the box, shot but it rebounded out to Cairo but Gabor Kiraly made a fantastic save and managed to save the ball from creeping over the line. A very even game so far. A minute later we got the first goal. And what a goal, Tabb won the ball superbly well in teh centre, passed to Mifsud who made a superb first time psass look easy, it was superbly threaded through to Thiago who finished sensationally with a first time shot which sailed into the bottom right hand corner. Terrific goal. 1-0. On 25 mins, we nearly gabbed a second, McKezie beat 2 men down the left, chipped in superbly, Mifsud volleyed powerfully ut Kiraly got a strong hand to it and it was hooked clear. On 32 mins, we grabbed a deserved second, Mifsud picked the ball up in the centre, ran unchallenged through the middle, looked as if he was going to pass but shot from 25 yards straight into the top corner. We were finally takng our chances. 2-0. On 34 mins, we had a great chance, Varga cleared decisively over the top of teh Burnly defence, Thiago was quickest, but sent his shot just over. Unlucky. On 40 mins, Burnley got one back, Mahon crossed from the right, but Marshall fumbled and Lafferty smashed in the loose ball. Not the best handling from Marshall. That was teh last action of teh half, and it had been a good half. Bar the goal, but everyone makes mistakes and I was in a good mood for teh first time in a while. No changes, straight in.
A good start to the half, Bardsley had the ball on teh right and absolutely smashed a cross in which fell right to Mifsud's head, he scored but it was disallowed for offside. On 55 mins, Burnley grabbed an undeserved equaliser, Joey Gudjonsson smashed in from 20 yards. 2-2. 2 goal lead thrown away again. On 66 mins, we retook the lead, Mifsud again beat a few defenders and smashed at goal, a harsh deflection saw the ball trickle into the corner. Mifsud claimed it! 3-2! 4 minutes later Mifsud completed his hat trick, and it was another FANTASTIC goal, McKenzie won the ball on the left, passed to Mifsud who smashed into the top corner from 25 yards. What a goal. 15th of teh season for Mifsud. On 70 mins, I made my changes to knock a bit of time off the clock, Best on for Thiago, Taarabt on for Thornton and Osbourne on for Tabb. On 81 mins, we had another chance. An awful Gabor Kiraly clearance was pounced on by leon Best, he tried a cheeky lob, which clipped the bar and went over. Unlucky. Thast was the last noteable action of the game. What a performance, we had finally finished our chances and more. Mifsud had been amazing. Looks like me making him substitute for a couple of games had really kicked him into shape.

Man Of The Match was unsurprisingly Michael Mifsud!

At Ashton Gate you will be hammered! :p

Comfortable win against Burnley, and good to see Misfud scoring a hat-trick, which had been a problem last month with him not scoring many.

Shurrup H0wz4t! I was going to do an Ipswich one, but they are far too good :p

8/12/07

4 days after a superb win against Burnley, it was back on home soil to face Welsh side Cardiff City. Cardiff were currently rock bottom of teh league, with just 2 wins all season and were much much lower than they expected to be. They couldn't buy a win, and fans were seriously worried about relegation.

Injuries now. Same 3 out. Lee Martin was still out with a groin tear, Julian Gray still had a sprained neck.

Now to the team news. Kevin Thornton was banned, so he was replaced by Hughes, Robbie Simpson made the bench. But that was the only change.

We arrived at the Ricoh again, this tim we knew we had to perform. Not just win, perform. Cardiff were bottom, but they were by no means a puchover, with the likes of Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink and Robbie Fowler in their ranks, so we knew we had to play well. We got to teh dressing rooms, had a chat and out we went.
A good start, straight away Elliott Ward floated a long ball up to Tabb, he passed t Thiago and shot from 20 yards, but his effort went about an inch over. Great strike. On 6 mins, we had another chance, this one was a lot bigger. Mifsud put Thiago through beautifully, but his shot was straight at the keeper. Poor finish. On 17 mins, we had another chance, Thiago did well through teh middle, put Mifsud through, he hit it first time, you would have expected him t score but his shot went miles wide. On 35 mins, Cardiff had their first chance, McPhail dribbled through, passed to Fowler on the edge who turned and shot brilliantly but his shot went over. It was another one of those days. On 43 mins, Cardiff had another chance, a ball in from Ledley was awfully defended yet again and Hasselbaink had a free shot at goal from 6 yards out, you would have bet your house on him scoring but his effort thudded off the bar. The crossbar is still shaking as you read... Half time and I took Hughes off for Taarabt and Simpson on for Thiago.
A slow start the first chance came on 51 mins, and it was surely a goal, Simpson flicked on a Cairo cross, Mifsud was all on his own in front of goal, and shot straight at the keeper. Shocking finish. On 54 mins, Cardiff took the lead, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbain heading home from 12 yards. After a long and boring few minutes, the next chance came on 79 mins, Mifsud had teh ball on teh edge, turned, shot well over the crossbar. A very boring game so far. On 89 mins, we had been outdone again!!!!!!!! McKenzie finishing off a perfectly good goal and we were left in disbelief whe the flag went up for offside!! What ****ing game was teh linesman watching???? FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But then 30 seconds later I brought Leon Best on and he got a massive equaliser with his first touch. That was the last noteable acton of the half, and yet again we had been cheated out of the points because of a stupid linesman trying to make a name for himself. But still, we didn't lose so it wasn't all bad.

I know ;) :p Is this the same Ipswich that got beat 2-1 at teh magnifiscent Ricoh Arena? ;)

We play you on the last day :( It should be an easy Addicks win you'll be pleased to hear :(
I'll have you know that teh Ricoh is the best stadium in the division! Well, its better than Scunthorpe's anyway!

Well Cardiff are a good side, but really you should have won that game. OH NO! I just had a look at the FA Cup draw and West Brom have Stoke, we never beat Stoke oh DAMN!:crying

Anyway back to Coventry. Your still in the promotion hunt, now go and get the Premiership!

15/12/07

After a half decent 1-1 draw with bottom side Cardiff, it was on to newly promoted Scunthorpe United. Scunthorpe were currently 18th in teh league and doing better than they would have expeced. They have had some great results too, including 2-0 victories over Bristol City and Watford. So they were no mugs.

Injuries now. Lee Martin was still out but Julian Gray resumed training this week but wasn't selected today.

Now to the team news. Thornton was back from suspension and Adel Taarabt started in midfield. However, both Ellery Cairo and Phillip Bardsley were banned, so I put Thornton on the right and Scott Dann at right back.

We arrived at what had to be the worst stadium in the English football league. The pitch was worse than teh JJB and that had had egg-chasers all over it! But anyway, we got into the dressing rooms and had our usual chat and went out to grab a much needed 3 points.

A very slow start, the first chance came on 20 mins, Jay Tabb passed to McKenzie in teh centre from a corner, he shot but it was tipped over the bar. On 29 mins, Scunthorpe got a chance, Hurst ran in from the left straight towards goal and drove it in, Marshall saved at the expense of a SAcunthorpe corner. And that was the last noteable action of teh worst half ever. What a boring half! I made all my changes in order to cr5eate at least one chance in teh second half! Simpson on fro Thiago, Hughes on for Tabb and Best on for Thornton.
A great start, just 42 seconds into the restart, Simpson beat 2 men adn passed to Mifsud, who turned and smashed past the keeper. Great finish. First shot on target for Mifsud. On 56 mins, it was 2-0! Dan Fox had a free kick 25 yards out, he smashed low and hard towards goal, it was defelcted and it soared into the bottom right hand corner. Superb striker, and Fox will claim that! On 59 mins, it was nearly 3-0! McKenzie recieved the ball on the left hand side, cut inside and curled a shot towards te far corner, but the keeper got a very important touch on it and it hit the post. On 81 mins, it was 3-0, another Fox free kick, this time from the right, he smashed this one in too, and again, it took a deflection and caught the keeper off guard but he reacted well to keep it out superbly, but Mifsud tapped in the rebound. 3-0, Mifsud again. Thats was the last noteable action of a much more interesting half than the first and we had got an important win. 5 in 3 for Mifsud.
