1 OUT OF BURNLEY CLASH
Coventry winger Julian Gray is out of the game against Burnley on 4th December. Gray picked up a knock after coming on as substitute in the 1-1 draw against Brostol City and straied his neck, although he is only expected to be out for a couple of weeks at most. Kevin Thornton picked up his 5th yellow card of the season, but won't be suspended for the Burnley game, as his ban starts on the 8th December. Manager Craig Tough, said it would be the perfect opportunity for one of his out-of-favour midfielders to step up to the task and show him what they are capable of.

LITMANEN STARTS LIGHT TRAINING
Coventry midfielder Jari Litmanen has resumed light training after signing on a free transfer last month after his release from Swedish outfit Malmo. Litmanen is yet to appear for the Sky Blues, bt says his long awaited debut isn't far on the horizon. Manager Tough says that he is struggling to find a consistent central midfield pairing, and the Litmanen may well fot the bill.
AWAY TIE FOR COVENTRY
Coventry City have been drawn away against Britsol City for their FA Cup 3rd Round cup tie. Coventry ave only just played Bristol City, the result being a disappointing 1-1 draw, in which Coventry had many chances. Craig Tough described the tie as 'tricky' but believes his Coventry side will overcome Bristol City.
Here is the full draw:
4/12/07
After a disappointing draw against Bristol City, it was on to Turf Moor, to face Owen Coyle's Burnley. Burnley were currently 12th in the league, Burnley had been very erratic so far, with soem great wins against Ipswich, and Colcester but also some very bad results against West Brom, Watford, Cardiff and Crystal Palace but needed the 3 points to get their promotion hopes back on track.
Injuries now. 3 out. Lee Martin was still out with a groin tear, Julian Gray had a sprained neck and I am pleased to announce that Jari Litmanen is only about a week away from a return from an achilles injury.
Now to the team news. No changes in the startng XI, but Stephen Hughes replaces Julian Gray on the bench.

FORM GUIDE: (league)
Burnley: W L L W W L
Coventry: W D L W L D
We arrived at Burnley's Turf Moor with a much needed 3 points in mind. We hadn't been in bad form, but we knew that 3 points would certainyl go a long way in this league where anyone can beat anyone. We made our way to the dressing rooms and we had our usual chat about tactics, who to look out for and I wished my team luck and out we went onto the pitch for a 10 minute warm up.
A decent start, but the first chance came to Burnley, Robbie Blake won a ball in the air, Kyle Lafferty volleyed, but his effort was blocked on teh line and but bounced into Andy Marshall's grateful arms. The second chance fell to Burnley again, this time a hopeful ball into the box by Mahon, Lafferty jumped the highest, but his header sailed over the bar. On 17 mins, we had our first chance, Mifsud forced his way into the box, shot but it rebounded out to Cairo but Gabor Kiraly made a fantastic save and managed to save the ball from creeping over the line. A very even game so far. A minute later we got the first goal. And what a goal, Tabb won the ball superbly well in teh centre, passed to Mifsud who made a superb first time psass look easy, it was superbly threaded through to Thiago who finished sensationally with a first time shot which sailed into the bottom right hand corner. Terrific goal. 1-0. On 25 mins, we nearly gabbed a second, McKezie beat 2 men down the left, chipped in superbly, Mifsud volleyed powerfully ut Kiraly got a strong hand to it and it was hooked clear. On 32 mins, we grabbed a deserved second, Mifsud picked the ball up in the centre, ran unchallenged through the middle, looked as if he was going to pass but shot from 25 yards straight into the top corner. We were finally takng our chances. 2-0. On 34 mins, we had a great chance, Varga cleared decisively over the top of teh Burnly defence, Thiago was quickest, but sent his shot just over. Unlucky. On 40 mins, Burnley got one back, Mahon crossed from the right, but Marshall fumbled and Lafferty smashed in the loose ball. Not the best handling from Marshall. That was teh last action of teh half, and it had been a good half. Bar the goal, but everyone makes mistakes and I was in a good mood for teh first time in a while. No changes, straight in.
A good start to the half, Bardsley had the ball on teh right and absolutely smashed a cross in which fell right to Mifsud's head, he scored but it was disallowed for offside. On 55 mins, Burnley grabbed an undeserved equaliser, Joey Gudjonsson smashed in from 20 yards. 2-2. 2 goal lead thrown away again. On 66 mins, we retook the lead, Mifsud again beat a few defenders and smashed at goal, a harsh deflection saw the ball trickle into the corner. Mifsud claimed it! 3-2! 4 minutes later Mifsud completed his hat trick, and it was another FANTASTIC goal, McKenzie won the ball on the left, passed to Mifsud who smashed into the top corner from 25 yards. What a goal. 15th of teh season for Mifsud. On 70 mins, I made my changes to knock a bit of time off the clock, Best on for Thiago, Taarabt on for Thornton and Osbourne on for Tabb. On 81 mins, we had another chance. An awful Gabor Kiraly clearance was pounced on by leon Best, he tried a cheeky lob, which clipped the bar and went over. Unlucky. Thast was the last noteable action of the game. What a performance, we had finally finished our chances and more. Mifsud had been amazing. Looks like me making him substitute for a couple of games had really kicked him into shape.
