My guys played well to win a 3rd game against Challengers XI. Man of the match knock of 63 for Chinthaka, his 4th half century in consecutive games. We were bowled all out for 153 by Ifill mainly, he took 4-29. Challengers XI all out for 136. Riaan took 3-30 and Nedd 3-36. Kekelstso got 56 before Slaytor bowled him. They got to 110-4, and collapsed completely.

A good, close game in the end. My bowlers did the job, I was particularly happy with my trainee, Slaytor, took 2-36 in his 2nd match. He could be a really good player after some more training.

I don't beleive this :( They played very well. We did well to get them all out for 153, Ifill taking the honours with 4/28 and Long being very restrictive with 2/23 off 10.

Then Croft, opening in an experiment to see if he was any good at opening, completely failed, but Kekeletso has now made the No 2 position his, with a decent, but slow, 56.
Then Wood, out for a golden duck? Don't believe it! Definitely a noball there... :D
An unusual collapse for a usually rock hard middle order, the last two had excuses for not making more than 1, but before that? 3 ducks, 2 batsman, 1 allrounders.

Pah, it was a good game, but someones got egg on their face after promising revenge :( I'll get you someday, Spin, I'll get you back...

Good start for me today. Playing an inactive team that still has some cracking players.

2.4 W Otto to Nicholl
Oh what a catch! You won't see better this season. It looked a certain six but the lad plucked it out of the air at a full length dive!

6.3 W Otto to Zonke
A big lunge forward and the ball catches the edge before striking the pad and it's an easy catch for Jarrett.

Otto the man of the moment, despite not having the best of seasons. Averaging a bit over 20 (which still isn't bad at all) instead of his usual 15-odd, but 2 wickets today should improve that a bit.

Really need a win today to work on my Pessimistic Morale, it's tough stuff in IV in England.

Even if you dont win today FF,your pessimism wont stay with you for long. You forget that we have a game on Sunday.

Not an absolutely fantastic start, but it is a nasty uneven pitch on a partially cloudy and humid day. Plus I'm TIE against a side not as good, but they might win on TIE so its a bit of a risk. I'm taking the risk so that I can GFI against the main league rivals next match.

End of Over 19: 78-2, runrate=4.11
Davis 3-0-19-0
Edwards* 45 (61 balls)
Wood 25 (35 balls)
Last Wicket: Bocks c. Dootson b. Davis 5 (FOW: 10/2)

Wood and Edwards are just stabilizing it a bit after a couple of disappointing innings...

Hadn't forgotten, but my youngsters are going to be leading me on Sunday, so a win isn't guarenteed. You've got a decent side.

Unfortunately, so do my opponants today:

End of Over 21: 100-2, runrate=4.76
Griffin 4-0-26-0
Branch* 44 (53 balls)
Hankey 35 (48 balls)

Looks like I'm going to need an innings from somebody, probably Gilroy or Mason, but I'm hoping Stiles will perform. He's a cracking player on Energetic PFL at the moment, so he might get a score.

End of Over 29: 133-2, runrate=4.59
Griffin 8-0-45-0
Hankey* 46 (69 balls)
Branch 65 (80 balls)

Not bad. Need to give the Run Rate down. Griffin's nearly done his 10, which is good, as he's one of my weaker bowlers. They're well set for a slog in the last 15 overs so I could use a few wickets.

End of Over 37: 191-2, runrate=5.16
Jarrett 7-0-39-0
Hankey* 78 (94 balls)
Branch 87 (103 balls)

Run Rate's starting to climb, not liking the look of this.

38.2 W Jarrett to Branch
Well it wasn't fast, had no uneven bounce nor seam movement and there seemed to be no distractions. Back to the nets for Branch.

Huge wicket at a crucial time. Now for the other one...

45.3 W Otto to Hankey
Hankey's bat has got stuck in the turf, and a direct hit from Fieldwick at point catches him well short of his ground.

Got the other one, albeit for 100. Hopefully keep things tight in the last 4 overs now.

End of Over 46: 250-4, runrate=5.43
Otto 8-0-33-2
Clarke* 2 (2 balls)
Mcgregor 28 (24 balls)

End of Over 50: 286-5, runrate=5.72
Otto 10-0-46-2
Sharma* 6 (3 balls)
Clarke 15 (13 balls)

Thats a fair total to chase. We'll see how it goes.

My bowling orders are mashed! Iftikhar is bowling! with stats like this

18. Hakim Iftikhar (256034)
RH Batsman, RFM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, changeable
A defensive player with feeble leadership skills and woeful experience.

Plays For: Briggs Bullets
Nationality: Pakistan
Age: 25 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 5,375 (+14)
Wages: ?482 p/w

Stamina: mediocre Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: mediocre Concentration: woeful
Bowling: abysmal Consistency: respectable
Fielding: abysmal

Not doing too badly though

End of Over 37: 164-4, runrate=4.43, reqrunrate=11.23 (309-5)
Iftikhar 7-0-35-0
Snodin* 14 (20 balls)
Morgan 32 (33 balls)

Moodley hit a century earlier for us, and Ainsworth and Pickford chipped in with 80 odd and 60 odd respectively.

4 wickets in 7 balls for Macca!

40.6 W Mckinlay to Snodin
What a sight! Mckinlay tearing in and up-rooting the off stump. That is one of the best sights and sounds in cricket!
42.1 W Mckinlay to Gerber
Shortish ball straightens alarmingly on Gerber, he's squared right around on the crease, gets a huge leading edge which flies up in the air, Whalley hurries forward from mid off and slides to take the catch low to the ground.
42.3 W Mckinlay to Morgan
That one stayed low and by the looks of it Mckinlay didn't expect it either. Nonetheless an important wicket falls!
42.6 W Mckinlay to Tshisevhe
Caught behind! Nice delivery from Mckinlay, tight into the body of Tshisevhe who's tried to turn it off his hips but merely gloved it through to the keeper.

I won easily. We made 248/9, with Edwards and Lungile taking half centuries, and Bishop finishing on 43 no and my latest buy, Hignett, getting 12 off 16. Will promote him up the order.

Next they were bowled out for 54 off 22.5 overs. Hignett picked up his first wicket, but Long got the honours with a career best 4/17. Wood chipped in 2 overs at the end, getting 1/0!!

MOTM Edwards for his 15th half century, his 6th off 8 innings this season

I have a newbie team at 105/4 after 33 overs. Crouch taking the new ball after a long time, got 2/12 off his first spell.

Huge win for me, 253 runs. My experiment of putting Chuguel back to his original position as opener didnt quite work for me today, so I might drop him back to 4. In-form Chinthaka hit an innings of <50 for the first time in 5 games, today he got 41. Captain-for-the-day Duncum hit a more than run a ball 68 and former Briggs Bullets player McDonagh got 77. 322-6 in total.

Only 2 players got double figures for them, both openers. Nedd took 4-19, and my other bowler of note was my trainee spinner who took 2-4 in 3.4 overs

This match was a bit special because it is the exact replica of my first ever Battrick match, away against James5000231, who were then called Beerswillers. Back then I was completely thumped, now I'm thumping them :)

EDIT: With the temporary membership, I checked the history between our teams, here are all the past results. My team is called Spinners United CCC and, before I came in, Klebb BC, their team is refered to as beerswillers, ants assholes, wenspan and Jamie5000231

Past Matches

10/03/2006 (OD League) at Spinners United CCC
Spinners United CCC 366-2
ants assholes 298-10
20/01/2006 (OD League) at beerswillers
Spinners United CCC 179-10
beerswillers 180-0
17/11/2005 (OD League) at beerswillers
Klepp BC 265-10
beerswillers 266-3
29/09/2005 (OD League) at Klepp BC
Klepp BC 221-10
beerswillers 207-10

As you can see, the 2 teams have a long history together, but with the way Jamie5000231 are going, this might be the last season we play each other

nice 9 wicket win today, rhodes top scoring, only respectabl in primary, but it such a great number 3, acheived a competent top and middle order, first since the summary "bug" was fixed,

dlomo and challis 4 wickets each

Crouch takes a hattrick off the first 3 balls of his 6th over :) And then wraps up the match with a wicket off the second ball of the 7th :) 6.2-2-18-6 :)

Talk about a flying start:
End of Over 10: 80-0, runrate=8.00, reqrunrate=1.38 (134-10)
Eastwood 5-0-55-0
Mcintyre* 55 (35 balls)
Cox 23 (26 balls)
:)

11.2 W Nixon to Mcintyre
Gone! Mcintyre can't believe he has been given, and to make matters worse it appears Nixon is telling Mcintyre he saw the edge.
Aww...such a fun innings while it lasted :( 59 off just 37 balls. Killed them he did...

Victory, with a 6:

20.4 6 Loxley to Spearitt
Spearitt has stepped across his stumps and spooned it over the keeper's head.

And that's the end of the match. TT Lions won by 9 wickets.
Windies Miller 134-10
TT Lions 138-1

A new team has just gotten his first taste of BT. :)
Crouch is MOTM.

I've started. Magnificent opening partnership between Bocks and Kekeletso, maybe not the fastest, but against some decent bowlers on an uneven pitch its pretty good going.

End of Over 20: 76-0, runrate=3.80
Robinson 5-0-25-0
Bocks* 43 (57 balls)
Kekeletso 27 (63 balls)

20.3 W Ettienne to Edwards
He missed the ball and decided to take a crack at the stumps! He's outta here!!
20.2 W Ettienne to Kekeletso
Marvellous delivery that! Ettienne drew Kekeletso into the shot and a thick outside edge is well taken at first slip.

Edwards fails to impress :(

24.1 4 Ettienne to Bocks
Brilliant yorker but he's somehow managed to edge it for four! Streaky batting!
And that's his fifty! Well played.

Great innings!

43.2 W Ettienne to Bocks
Pitched on middle and leg and moved off the seam to nick off stump! Beautiful delivery!

Finally gone for a flowing 75.

I don't think the Assassins will have any trouble. If I get a bit of luck and dismiss the top order, then I might have a chance but I don't think thats very likely.

End of Over 1: 3-0, runrate=3.00, reqrunrate=3.31 (164-10)
Hignett 1-0-3-0
Hansen* 1 (2 balls)
Mahmood 2 (4 balls)

A solid first over from Hignett, playing in only his second match for the team.
