County V Aus Domestic

I think Kev's idea about making the 2XI better and giving it more attention is crucial. Look at the Championship for football and how much publicity that gets compared to the 2XI Cricket scene. The problem with English sport is that there are just too many foreign players e.g. Kolpacks in Cricket and look at half of the Premiership teams. They are full of foreigners. This is why English sport is suffering so much and why we never win anything.

I think they need to really encourage cricket from a young age as I only started playing it when I went to a private school. If it hadn't been for that I would have stuck with football. Start people young and that will take England up the rankings as the youth of today and tomorrow develops.

Isn't the second XI basically like reserves instead of championship cricket? Maybe the best 2nd XI players should get loaned out to clubs like Leicestershire, I know loans are occasionally used, and maybe we should get a third division with some of the minor counties in and possibly Ireland and Scotland. Then again if there wasn't so many kolpaks a lot of the 2nd XI players would be getting first team experience anyway.

No. Young players with no FC experience can play there and work on their game before going to play 1st Team cricket.

I think we should defiantly try and improve the second XI and of course remove the kolpaks since they offer nothing to England apart from perhaps advice but they take away spots for English players which is unacceptable really.

Maybe only allow 1 per team

The Leicestershire chairman went on one of his usual rants again today pointing out another flaw wit the county game with the gap in finances and it's pretty big. It's not fair but the ECB don't like us because we don't host a test and have so many foreigners anyway :p

How many of them actually play cricket? In England most kids grow up on soccer.
And in Australia, most kids grow up on AFL or rugby. Cricket has lost plenty to the former, whilst the latter is obviously a bit different because you have to be very big to play rugby professionally.

soccer now prob has the most people playing it because all the mummies dont want there little boys getting hurt an they see how much money they can make overseas so they get them into soccer while there young.

we are creating a nation of wimps for the future.
playing soccer instead of aussie footy/rugby/cricket
Cant call each other names or they will sue for bullying.

Less teams, therefore more quality in the teams, more competition for places. We HAVE to allow some overseas players by EU law, the counties are unlikely to stop hiring them as they can help bring in crowds and can help them win things. Counties are too focused on their own success, they are meant to produce England cricketers.

England Scene=Great competition, isn't focusing on raising future players, it focuses on making a good competition in itself.

Australian Scene=Focuses more on raising future players.

everyone playing cricket having fun, making it fun for the fans is better then Focusing more on raising future players..

I've hardly heard about Aussie domestic, only thing that Imran Khan played once for a Aussie team..
