AI never manage to score more than 50 against me I always use the following plan
1st ball default pitch and straight delievery and perfect yellow zone timing.
2nd ball out swing default pitch and just before perfect yellow zone.
3rd ball an outswinging bouncer just outside off stump perfect yellow zone.(90% AI will get caught in covers)
4th ball default pitch outswinger just below perfect yellow zone.
5th ball bouncer(same as 3rd ball)
6th ball (same as 1st ball)

AI always get all out inside 10 overs and they never manage to pass 50.

Now that's a very strange thing.:)
AI Don't know how to play at covers. It just gives catching practice to offside fielders by playing in their hands

Have any of you played a whole match by not pitching it in the yellow areas? I played a T20 doing this and South Africa made 137/1. I dropped 2 catches! I won with 2 wickets remaining in Hard.

Try it but it might not work... Let me know the results!

It's such a shame that you have to resort to that kind of thing to get a competitive game out of the AI... :(

were not gonna change are game to get a better game fair enough for trying to figure ideas out but im not gonna go that low an try this to get a decent match its stupid what we need is a patch.

I know. Some people might wanna try this and it was just a suggestion.

Bowl consistently at good length with packed offside field and see the result

But what's the point? It won't produce a realistic game, will it? It'll just produce pathetically low AI scores and the most boring Ashes series in history.

just dont use custom fields

Trouble is, when the AI goes on the attack, there are no set fields where you can put three or four men on the boundary. I've been using custom fields (without packing the offside) and I've been getting decent results.

Yep thats what I do. It also really helps the AIMOBM (AI middle order beserk mode) to be tamed and get them to go to sleep again. They will defend much more. If you want to weedle out some chances again, open up the field up a bit again. It's called captaincy!:)

Using this way of thinking I have had some great offline matches, especially ODI's. I know it's not how it should be but when batting you have to ignore some of the field settings and play the balls on merit as if the oppsition captain had an idea what he was doing instead of being hired in for the day on the Youth Training Scheme!:)

One good thing about the fielding AI is if you keep playing a shot in a particular area, they usually plug the gap and it doesn't look like they've changed the whole field either, they just pop a man in that particular position.

It is true but it takes a long time for them to do anything. If I may grab my own quote from a previous post on this matter (auto-plagarism!):

"For me it's the AI field settings. I thought I read that we would be suprised at how intelligently and how quickly AI would respond to us hitting a ball somewhere. Well it's like watching a frigging dinosaur thinking as the fielding team make up there mind;

(slow, dumb voice)

"Oh they 'ave hit the ball over there! A message is going to my brain! I fink I 'ave to do summink! Not yet though, my 'ead 'urts! Oh they 'ave 'it the ball over there! A message is goin' to my brain! I fink I..........!"

Ad Infinitum

Why oh why if you set a strong off-side field would you bowl at somebody's legs?? It just doesn't make sense. "
