Bowling is just too frustrating now. Career Test bowling seems impossible.

Inside edges rocketing for 4. Cannot position any fielders to stop this. Just get rid of them. Id rather see the batsman play and miss. This at least gives me hope.

Bowling good lengths, drying up runs, applying pressure then a scripted lofted hit over the infield for 4.

Mis hits seem to always fall short of the in field.

Is anyone bothering playing tests anymore?

Is there a way to change game time in career mode ? As the game under lights stutters a lot on my laptop.

The mandatory lofted shot, annoys the hell out of me. And I feel like whenever I move a slip position, or gully, poof! Multiple edges through where the fielder was, just feels a bit cheaty by the AI.

I do get plenty of play and misses, perks helps a lot of that, the swing ones anyway.

I just feel as a community we have too high of expectations, and to be honest rightly so sometimes, on these hotfixes (I don't see them as patches as most of the time they're not significant enough). The last few cricket games, the release version has basically been the final form.

The next cricket game, we've talked about on field, I really want to see some statistical overhauls and really fleshed out. Especially for selecting teams (and fix the bloody ages of players not updating throughout the career lol). Team, player rankings, what other teams/players are doing throughout the year and so on.

I'm not sure we are too demanding. I think we are dreadfully short changed actually.

These are games priced at triple A prices, the same price as Grand Theft Auto 5, Red Dead Redemption 2.

"Oh, but it's a labour of love made by a small studio", I hear a certain section say.

Well, so was Rimworld, X-Plane, and so was Transport Tycoon. Gameplay, realism and depth classics that get better with age. If we owe Big Ant our patience, well after 2014 we have had six years and four iterations, and we are playing a game now where the ball doesn't spin. We haven't had a decent representation of cricket since the odd Ashes Cricket patch, and Brian Lara Cricket 2005. (I don't count DBC14 because none of the player attributes do anything).

It's a dreadful state of affairs, and I'd happily help kickstart anyone who can produce a game that gives the world's second biggest sport a bit of respect.

You say a bit of respect, but they do work their nuts off trying to get it right. It’s still the best games of cricket Iv played. Whether that’s because there’s nothing else out there I don’t know but I can definitely have fun.

Fifa is riddled with ridiculous bugs. No one can seem to get Rugby right. NBA2k20 was an utter shambles at release.

So yeah there are irritating aspects to it all. But I think people love a little tantrum and over exaggeration.

without Big Ant we would have jack shit so tbh with that in mind Iv had plenty of fun for my 50 quid

Well I respect your views as you make them well, but surely in 2020 we should be getting spin? I think people give Big Ant an easy ride because there is no alternative.

It's ludicrous to compare Cricket 19 to GTA5 or RDR2. Rockstar is one of the most successful developers. GTA V has made more money than any book, film, record or video game ever released. I'd expect it makes more on microtransactions and new sales in week (maybe even a day) than Cricket 19 has made since it came out.

This recent patch had new content that was free. It might only be bats but Big Ant could release it with a 'Here's Jimmy Anderson's and bunch of other new bats, they're only £4.99 each on Steam.' I don't know if the gameplay had much done to it at all in this patch, it seems to be primarily the bats and support for new monitors but something happened to cause a frustrating issue. Shit happens.

There may be a section of us that gives BA a pass, maybe too much of a pass. I certainly don't think being a small developer is an excuse to make the same mistakes. But I want them to succeed. IF they really want to nail the next cricket game, then forget about adding new features (if there's a story mode and the fielding in the game is still as bad, I'll be mad as hell). Go through this game with a fine tooth comb and work out what needs to be improved and what needs to be scrapped and built from the ground up. People like the new stuff like cut scenes but it's gameplay issues that raise the most ire on these forums.

Im not actually sure C19 comes off that badly when compared to games I’d personally subtitle as “Our Cars handle like shit” and “Jeez being a cowboy is boring af”

I think delivering a patch that removes spin is absolutely ridiculous, and any software company with reasonable control procedures would have rolled that patch back already - after all it delivered nothing material, and broke something very material.

but I think saying BA haven’t treated the sport with respect is quite an exaggeration

This shit most assuredly shouldn’t happen though.
Regression bugs happen for sure, but if they were adding bats and “Dutch’s porn cinema” support, how on earth does spin get nixed? The code control must be absolutely shocking.

It shouldn't happen but at the same time I don't have the knowledge of game development to say that every issue can always be avoided or anticipated. Maybe it is Dutch's wide-screen update that has caused it somehow? Maybe it's something to do with pitch cracks? I've honestly no idea.

But I think it's fair enough to blame @Dutch and James Anderson.

of course we should.. I have made it very clear that I find it utterly ridiculous that every patch I test something else is removed or broken. It’s crazy. And makes progression impossible.
