Cricket Books section

Or as a compromise, how about change the articles forum to the Cricket Literature forum and scrap the idea of a News Team, allowing all members to post articles and reviews on cricket books?

This could work well with the idea I came up with all on my own* about scrapping the members articles forum and having members post articles in Cricket Chat. We could just sticky a book thread in CC for now and if the demand grows, consider making a sub-forum.

*Its how the world works Manee. ;)

Aye, I like that.

I think the News Team needs to be scrapped though. Even though I used to be part of it myself, it doesn't take a genius to realise that it just isn't working.

In my opinion, that would be mayhem though. Posts can get lost far too easily. Say there is a discussion on one book, which takes up 5 pages, somebody else commenting on another book would be lost in the middle of all that, it would be horrible to read/participate in.

I think a sub forum could attract new members, but if it's in the CC main forum it would disappear in a day, so unless anyone sees this thread, no one would have a clue as to it being there.

I think a sub-forum, even just as a trial would be successful. I missed the sticky bit, but the point still stands, unless it's the latest thread that has been posted in, no one breezing by would know that it was there.

Well seeing how the thread Cricket Reads didn't turn into mayhem, I don't see why another one would.

Let's be honest, if the disaster that is the Member's Article forum is left to keep running then I can't see the books forum doing any harm.

Good idea IMO. Means members don't have to write articles but can still post them whenever they want. Will also make the section more busy and active - which it needs.

DO IT ADMIN:cool:

I'm sure there's a link between the two somewhere....

I like the dound of a books section. It would be good because I never really buy cricket books because some are really crap so it might help, plus it might have some sophisticated conversation

Books play a very important role in our society, there should be books section, where the cricket books Thread is pinned. We can have chat about Books, what harm will it do?

You can chat about books now, you don't need a whole forum to do it. The way to get a subforum is to create a need for it through posting rather than just say you want one so you can talk about something, I don't understand why people feel they need a structure in place before posting their views, thats what the create thread button is for!

Honestly though I don't know if there is much to talk about in terms of cricket books, the majority being autobiographies, they aren't great works of literature, they don't break new ground, they don't offer interesting conclusions or take you to another level of discussion. They pretty much just set out the writers time in cricket.

I don't think that's what MUFC was asking for. He wants a sub-forum for cricket books.

BTW, completely agreed with Kev's post.
