Cricket in China

China's goal is to get Test Status by 2020!!!:rtfl:rtfl This is so bullshit! It is 2009 already, and most of their people still don't know how to hold a bat. :rtfl:rtfl:rtfl

Heh.

Pats them because they At least have an aim other than hearing to bullshit concerning about their future.

I've discussed hell of chinese cricket and their great future already. They not only try to learn the basics fast, they grasp and try to find something or the other new from the game.

We're mad of Chinese and Chinese are mad about us.

End of.

Why don't you understand a simple thing? Cricket will never be popular in China. It cannot. I once heard a Chinese being interviewed. He says he doesn't like cricket because of the mere fact that it takes too long for a cricket match to complete. The Chinese people dislike these type of long-duration games. They are fond of short-duration games which can bring them quick fame and name. They will never enjoy a Test or a ODI game. They cannot. Cricket is simply not meant for them.

The thought of a Japanese - China ashes series in 50 years or so just made me cream my pants. It would be so awesome for world cricket.

Edit - and the Japanese and the Koreans should have no problem with boredom, they love Baseball!

btw, I think baseball is awesome.

I guess one reason is because Chinese people are really competitive and love to watch individual sports (although do derive some sort of nationalistic feeling from teams doing well).

Can't see cricket becoming popular in China to be honest, probably not in the next 50 years (if the world lasts that long) anyway.

Cricket in China will become certainly a reality if their government decides to.

However none of their real world competitors except perhaps UK plays cricket seriously. So unless USA comes into the fold, don't think they'll be motivated enough.
