Not sure how many of you know about the super-efficient Delhi police at the Kotla, who refused to let food into the ground today. The entire South African team, and Geoff Boycott, were almost forced to starve. Well, the last World Cup was ruined by the administrators not allowing musical instruments into the ground - this time, they are going one step ahead. Tragic. In Bangalore, the tickets distribution for Ind v Eng was an absolute shambles. People queued up from late last night, only to be roughed up by cops and an immense crowd - how can you blame the crowds, when you only release a fraction of the tickets to the public? At some point, the crowds should just stop turning up. Sadly, no one will even notice. Cricket is, after all, made for TV.

What the hell!

Kotla security is always ridiculously strict. I've been there once or twice and they pretty much empty out whatever you try to take in with you.

But, this seems plain ridiculous. I mean it is for the players and they ought to handle it more professionally.

Ridiculously bad! ICC is a joke of an organisation and so is the BCCI. They blame about lack of crowds and then they grab all tickets for themselves and let the crowd fight with the cops like this. Why does any event held in India go through problems like this?

Just pathetic, once again they show how poor we are at organizing big events :facepalm.

Food is generally not allowed at sporting venues because they want you to buy the overpriced crap at the concession stands.

I agree it sucks but it's hardly a new issue or one unique to this world cup.

----------

as for the players not getting the food, I find that a bit hard to believe.

Yeah, I doubt that happened. That's just too ridiculous to be true.

is that article even from cricinfo as OP claims? he never posted the actual source and cricinfo normally does not use such dramatic language.

Feels more like a comment left on cricinfo or a poorly written opinion piece.

South Africa v West Indies: Police cause food shortage at Kotla | Cricket News | ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 | ESPN Cricinfo

"We arrived at 12.30 and made arrangements for lunch to arrive then but it only arrived at 13.10 because of the security and police," Mohammed Moosajee, the South African team manager, told ESPNCricinfo. West Indies, however, arrived a little after 13.00 and found their food was on time, some of them having eaten at the hotel. South Africa's 40-minute wait, though, was much shorter than the hours other people had to endure before being allowed to eat.

Thats a much more believable article and it's not the one User posted.

A 40 minute wait is hardly a situation where "The entire South African team, and Geoff Boycott, were almost forced to starve."

That does look fine to me. Every person on this planet can wait for 40 minutes, what's there to starve. :facepalm

You guys are lucky that the match was not held in Gurgaon in Tau Devi Lal Stadium. The Cops here would have mugged everybody & would have made made away with the loot.

For example,

When a Cop enlists he is like this

After Looting & eating all your money by the time retirement comes they look like this
