DirectX9

Despite the publicity propaganda DX 9 is really meant only for next generation cards

Insha unless you have a graphics card that supports directx 9 features ( a Geforce FX or Radeon 9700 or a Geforce 4 Ti to an extent) you wont see any marked performance increase. On the contrary you might see a drop in peformance for cards like the MX cards in some games since they try to emulate the DX9 features and ultimately slow down your PC.

hey....

vineet, or ne1 else, does installing DirectX 9.0 affect Cricket 2002 coz i just installed it and now when i load a game from the cricket 2002 wcexp file, it comes up wit the first loading screen of the credits, but then doesn't show the next loading screen, and instead goes black and then goes bak to the desktop.

does ne1 else hav this problem?

As Vineet said if you have a GeForce Ti / FX or Radeon 9700 cards I recommend u to install Directx 9.0 else stick to what u have and dont unessecerily create problems. Only the latest games such as Quake 4 and others will take advantage of its new features and I dont think its going to make any difference in Crick 2002 by installing 9.0 as it cant take much advantage of its features

okay..

mayb it's coz i hav geforce 4 mx 440, and i installed direct x9.0 so that's y the game doesn't work

but.......does ne1 know how to install it?

I downloaded directX9 but there was no deference. And whats worse is that the controls were changed in cricket2002.Someone tell me how to delete directX9.

now there's a problem insha..

on the microsoft.com/directx site...it says u can't uninstall direct x 9.0

That's not right actually. You CAN uninstall DirectX with any number of programs on the Internet. All you have to do is a quick search on Google or any other search engine and you should be able to find what you're looking for.

I think most, if not all of these programs, require you to start in Safe Mode. This is done because Safe Mode basically loads only the bare essentials to get Windows up and running, and not DX.

BTW, I'm currently running DX 8.1 on Win98SE and C2K2 runs smoothly.
