Panel of Selectors

After England won the 2005 Ashes series they have managed to only 8 of their 28 test matches. This record being nearly as poor as their run between 1995-99, the England boys are heading out for a tour to New Zealand were they will play 2 test matches and 5 One Day Internationals. The 18 man touring squad has been announced and after a poor few years England will want to turn it around in preparation for the up and coming 2009 Ashes Series.

The England squad is prity regualtion with the only surprise being openor Scott Newman. Newman has performed well in both the first class and ODI circuits averaging over 60 in both. England will be relying on Monty Panesar to take plenty of wickets and look to really head the attack as Vettori will most probably for New Zealand

Key Man For England
The sides for the first test between England and New Zealand have been announced after England have succeded in winning all 3 of their warm up matches. Andrew Strauss and Stephen Fleming announced their sides and looking at them this could be a very good series.

England has chosen an expected squad for the first test at Wellington and the track is supposed to be a batting one and will really not give anything to the bowlers. A lot of pressure lies in Andrew Flintoff who will be hoping to bowl good lines and take some wickets as well as score big runs in the middle order. The six man bowling attack will give Strauss the ability to chop and change the bowlers to try and take some wickets. If Cook and Bell can build on their form and support Kevin Pieterson and try to take advantage of the pitch and the New Zealand bowling attack.

New Zealand are a good side but don't have that touch that England have and will really have to produce some magic if they are going to win this test. With Vettori out the bowling attack is looking as weak as ever and could really struggle. Shane Bond will have huge pressure on him and if he fails to produce the goods it could put New Zealand in some trouble. Also Ross Taylor is not playing and New Zealands batting is also quite fragile. If they are not firing there could be some serious trouble for them.

First Test First Day
England VS New Zealand
England VS New Zealand
Today was the first of the opening test between New Zealand and England. Strauss and Fleming headed out to toss on a flat track that was made for batting. Fleming won the toss, or Strauss lost it and New Zealand were to bat first. With the track favouring the batsmen and a hot sunny day England may have to spend a long day in the field.
Up until lunch England bowled good lines but New Zealand didn't budge and the two openers lasted making 102. Fulton made an unbeaten 61 and Fleming made 36. The game is going the way of New Zealand and England will really have to work hard to pull themselves back into the game.

Fulton 61* and looking good
When they came out after lunch England looked like a different side and picked up 3 wickets for an additional 137 runs. Fulton batted through for 77 before getting out to Panesar edging one to slip. With an opening partnership of 150 England really were the side on top. Oram got 48 from 49 before being bowled by Flintoff and then Vincent was also bowled by the English all rounder for 14 from 20. Fleming was left on 93 not out from 175 balls still there and playing awesome cricket throughout the day. With the score 239-3 England need some serious fortune to turn it around.

Fleming goes into tea looking good on 93*
England finished the day with New Zealand on 350 for 6. Monty Picked up two wickets and Hoggard got Fleming caught for 155. The first day has got to go to New Zealand and hopefully for them McCullum and Franklin will continue tommorow and make a good partnership. Monty finishes with 3 wickets and Flintoff takes two wickets.

3 for Monty but 155 for Fleming gets the credit
