Ali Gets Warner:
A little bit of joy for England as Ali gets Warner bat/pad. I really do appreciate the depth of this game sometimes. yes it has quirks and bugs and little shortcomings and spin is generally too overpowered but its moments like these that make the game what it is. It makes narrative to what you are doing and that's the main thing you can ask for in a game.
So I am struggling and bring on Ali (then you are really struggling) o bowl some overs before the close. Pucovski absolutely hammers him first ball up showing his intent and making me nervous as to what length to bowl. Warner is much more circumspect but willing to hit the ball that's there to be hit. he's defended three or four balls so I think lets flight this one a little more a little fuller a little wider because i think he will want have a hit now after defending for a few balls. Drives at a good length ball, takes the inside edge and pops up off the thigh pad to a gleeful Foakes. Fistpumps and hoots ensue. And that's the narrative right there; you have an opening, you have a little breakthrough, a moment to think of a plan to the new batsman. That's all you can ask for in a game that it has a meaning, a story and when this game gets it right it feels very very good.

A morning for both sides: Austarlia bring the scores level with six wickets in hand and England make some inroads with a superb Broad ball that castled Labuschagne first ball of Broad's first over of the day. Smith came in and looked his ever restless self. Both Pecovski and Wade succumbed to run outs: Pucovski was slightly lazy running more than anything and Wade's was a very sharp take and throw at the stumps by Ali as Anderson threw in from the deep. wade will have felt that the bat was over the line at impact but the third umpire gave it out after a minute long delay. A decision wildly booed by a raucous crowd. but to be fair other angles showed that the decision was correct. The cards are all Australian but England feel they have a slither of possibility here if they can keep taking regular wickets.
