Albie Morkel is amazing. Probably the most consistent 6 hitter in world cricket, a pretty consistent batsman for his style of play, a good bowler and a good fielder too. Would walk in my team.

One of my favorite players.

The English smashing SA  KP still hasn't really fired either so things are starting to look up for the English. About time the English picked Trott and now hes also providing them with handy medium pace. Certainly gives Strauss more options when a bowler takes stick like Rashid did.

SA need to get more specialist bowlers in there, they only had 2 this match and they clearly weren't threatening. And they could use another specialist batsmen, I'm sure Prince isn't injured and there were a few batsmen that scored runs in the warm up.

Man, its so good to see SA being beaten! Also nice to watch a SA match without Kallis, I may even enjoy watching them in the future.

missing kallis did actually hurt them, I thought they'd be fine but judging that Amla put on their best score and colly and trott did the damage for england it was a day for grinders.

I don't think he likes it, I think its more of a case that he can't walk into a test to open if he has been batting middle order for his franchise. An option they may look at with kallis out is picking albie as the number 6 other options are the likes of rillee rossouw or playing kuhn as a batsman. Don't think they would go back to gibbs or mckenzie.

Hopefully kallis is fit for the first test and it doesn't matter.

Maybe we can bring peterson in for the tests as well. If I remember correctly he hit 6 or more centuries last season, more than any other batsman. And this season he already has two, so he is looking good. But hopefully Kallis will be back even if he doesn't bowl.

I am not convinced that Albie should be playing, he hasn't put his hand up when the team needs him. We need Parnell back, he had a knack for taking wickets. Tstsobe is a bit slow for my liking and Morne Morkel is always a risk. Maybe it's time to bring Rusty Theron in.

These are two sides that look like going in opposite directions. I know it's just one game, but this England squad actually looks like they might be competent at one day cricket. I can't single out anyone and laugh at the fact that they're in the team, although Rashid hasn't done particularly well.

Disagree on Albie, he is a match winner with the bat in this format and is needed. It wasn't that long ago that he was man of the series in the odi series in aus. I would pick parnell ahead of mcclaren when he is fit again. Need that left arm variety.

Poor South africa! :laugh

They really are chokers are'nt they?? No 1 spot??? :rtfl

Good on england on bringing them to the ground.... May sound a bit cruel for RSA they the best players they produce are opting to play for england rather than SA, but they do deserve this dont they? with a kind of system they have in there?:D

Think Tony Greig might be a bit old to be in the current SA squad...

Anyway, players like KP, Trott weren't gonna get a shout in South Africa and Strauss's mum is English and he moved here when he is 6. He is certainly more English then South African!

What about strauss , tony grieg etc??

Most recent one - Trott!

Trott had has fair share of chance in SA domestic cricket. Never made the grade. Unlike KP he had his chances and didn't take them here.

Besides he isn't a better player than we have. He is in good form at the moment. But he isn't a better player than what we have. He would not get in ahead of ab,jp,prince or amla for the test side.

KP is the only player I have regrets about since KZN didn't give him a fair chance. Should have moved provinces instead of moving to england.:(
