West Indies Won With Ease In A One Sided Game
West Indies won their 1st qualifying match with ease and with a huge margin of 227 runs and have certainly announced that they are also strong contender of the Champions Trophy . After posting a massive total of 317 on the board , W.I. bowled out Zimbabwe for just 90 runs . It was a poor performance by Zimbabwe but West Indies bowled superbly and Lara kept the pressure on by placing a tight field .Bradshaw , Bravo and Gayle picked up 3 wickets each while J.Taylor picked up 1 wicket but he troubled all the batsmen with his pace. Lets take a look at the positive and negetive aspects of this innings .
Positive Aspects : + West Indies have a strong bowling lineup for this tournament.
+ Bradshaw and Bravo bowled a controlled line and length.
+ Bravo troubled the batsmen with his slower balls resulting in wickets .
+ J.Taylor was bowling with pace .
Negetive Aspects : - Zimbabwe batting is exposed .
- J.Taylor instead of bowling with pace got just 1 wicket and gave away runs in the start but then bowled 2 maidens when wickets were falling from other end.
J.Taylor opened the West Indian bowling . He was bowling with pace and ZImbabwe openers were bit surprised in the start . Diffin got one on the gloves but he kept that down nicely . But then Zimbabwe openers used the pace of Taylor and then started placing the ball in the gaps and were scoring in boundaries . J.Taylor going for runs:
Ian Bradshaw was bowling a good line and length and was keeping a teasing line just on and around the off stump . Soon he was rewarded with 2 wickets in and over . 1st to depart was Sibanda who was in two minds whether to play the ball or to leave it but was then trapped in front and not offering any shot . Next to go was Masakadsa who just survived 1 ball and then tried to pull Bradshaw from the off stump and managed to get a top edge and Lara took a simple catch . Bradshaw's two quick wickets :
After two quick wickets Zimbabwe were pushed on the backfoot . Lara got an aggressive field and batsmen were feeling the pressure . Bradshaw was mixing it nicely . He was bowling on the offstump line and then bowling a short one . Batsmen had no clue and were leaving the ball outside offtump. Bradshaw bowled 3 outswingers in a row outside the offstump and then bowled an inswinger and trapped Mufambisi in front . Umpire had no hesitation to give that one out . Bradshaw's 3rd wicket :
After the fall of 3 wickets J.Taylor was feeling easy from the other end and then he started to bowl brilliantly and bowled 2 maidens . He got the batsmen hopping around and the made the bastmen to make mistakes . Strydom trying to play one on the leg side was judged LBW off the bowling of Taylor . That was dead straight and was surely hitting the stumps . Taylor came back strongly:
D.Bravo was brought in as the 1st change bowler and trobled the batsmen with his slower ball . Bravo's slower ball is an effective one as he usually takes wickets on those . Bravo sneaked in with 3 quick wickets and ZImbabwe found themselves in deeper trouble . Matsikenyeri was the 1st victim on Bravo who tried to smash him over his head but the ball missed the bat and Matsikenyeri was bowled for just 6 runs . Next ball K.Meth was trapped LBW by Bravo with a full slower delivery and Meth played that early and was plum in front . Diffin's good innings of 33 finally came to an end when Bravo yorked him and got the leg stump uprooted. Bravo's 3 wickets :
Chris gayle completed the formalities by picking up the final 3 wickets . He bowled on the stumps and the Zim batsmen were a lot inexperienced to play the bowling of Gayle . Gayle got the final wicket of the match as Zimbabwe were bowled out for just 90 runs . West Indies won by 227 runs . Gayle completed the formalities:
Scorecard : Terrible batting by Zimbabwe.
Bowling Card: Just four bowlers used by Lara but take a look at that everyone in the wickets column
