Ooooo! Bad start there mate! Why did you hurry things up so much in the 2nd innings? I would have preferred a 100 of 200 balls than a 50 of 17 balls.

But anyways best of luck for the East London Test Match.

I think it was mostly frustration. I kept losing wickets and i thought i'll show them, risky, but fortunetly i didn't get out (even though some of the shots were slightly unorthadox.) Thanks for the support.

End of Innings 12:09pm Day 2
South Africa 499-6 Dec. (94 over)

South Africa won the toss chose to bat and thats exactly what they have done scoring more or less 500. An out standing effort from every batsmen bar 1 allowed them to score this massive total. G.Smith south African captain was denied a century again after being ranout by, yes you guest it Rudolph again.

G.Smith capt. makes it to his 50 after a flying start.

Smith Smashes a boundary.
Rudolph paid his captain what he is earned by contributing 50 to the effort. Kallis added 87 before getting bowled by a giles spinner and a late contribution from AB De Villiers ensured a good total.

Giles gets Kallis for 87.
England struggled in the bowling department taking only 3 wickets with the others being taken by runouts. A.Giles was the pick of the bowlers shortly followed by Jones who slowed down the runrate marginally. England are face with 15 odd overs before lunch and it will be vital not to lose wickets.

Tea Day 2
England 160/3 (41 overs)
A.Strauss 54*

South Africa look on top going into the final session of the day. England batted sensibly untill lunch when they went in for the lunch break 54/0. M.Trescothic who was batting well ended up edging one to slip and going for a steady 23 where as M.Buthcer couldn't find any form and went for a dismall 1 edging a wide delivery to J.Kallis. M.Vaughan looked in prime form smashing 3 quick boundaries but he became undone by a series of great deliveries from SA including the wicket delviery which was a fast straight yorker. G.Thorpe and A.Strauss head of for the final session looking to build a vital partnership.

South Africa seemed to have really thrashed you in that first innings, scoring 500 in just 94 overs.

But England have done well to get to 160-3, and should be able to prevent a follow on. But I guess, a victory for Michael Vaughan's men is highly unlikely.

My first aim is to avoid the follow on, then after that any thing is a bonus. I think i could get a draw seeing i should bat out the 2nd and hopefully most of the 3rd. They batted extremely well and seemed to go out all guns blazing just before the decleration.

England 341 (91 overs)

England started the run chase steady and attempted to lose as fewer wickets. They entered tea 160 for 3 with A.Strauss on 54. M.Vaughan knew that his sides first objective and most important was to evade the follow on. This meant scoring with in 200 of south Africas total. G.Thorpe supported A.Strauss with an uncharacteristic quick 50 before he edged a delivery to slip.
pic4.jpg

Top- G.Thorpe edges it to slip. Below- A.Strauss smashes it for 4.
England still 100 odd short of the follow on needed something special from Strauss. A slow and paitent innings from strauss ensured the follow on was succeeded. A.Strauss top scored the innings with a magnificant 114, his highest of the series However this century and a little help from G.Jones still leaves them 158 runs behind with south africa still to bat on this brilliant batting wicket.

Top- A.Strauss reahces his 100. Below - G.Jones loses his off stump.

I'm with Mick on this one. A draw looks the favourite.

Ntini had a bit of a pasting :) 3 wickets though so Smith would probably settle for that.

Well done for avoiding the follow-on.

With them still 158 ahead going into their second innings i cant see a victory, although anythings is possible. I don't want to lose so i am really playinjg for a draw and i hope to set a fiedl from which they bat fro a long time for their runs.

From what I know of the CPU, it always declares when the overall lead is around 350+ (2nd innings). So I guess if you do not manage to get the CPU out before it scores 200, then you will see a declaration.
