The West Coast Eagles hold a narrow lead over the Sydney Swans at ANZ Stadium at quarter time tonight. David Wirrpanda has been a typical vacuum for his 13 possessions and a goal, while Brett Kirk has compiled the most touches for the home side with nine.

Daniel Kerr got the goal scoring underway after more than five minutes after receiving a wonderful tap down from Cox in the forward pocket and driving it home.

Amon Buchanon then kicked the Swans first following a remarkable run from Brett Kirk up the wing to deliver it to him. After ten more minutes of stalemate football, David Wirrapanda crumbed from a marking contest deep inside the forward fifty and dribbled a snap through for his first major.

With inside 100 seconds left before the first change, Barry Hall converted from a mark just inside the fifty. A few late behinds to the Eagles stretched their lead to four.

Goals (SYD): Hall, Buchanan
Top Possessions (SYD): Kirk (9), Bolton (8), McVeigh (8)
Gone Cold (SYD): Fosdike (0), Ablett (0), Bird (0)

Goals (WCE): Kerr, Wirrpanda

The Eagles dominated the second term at ANZ stadium tonight. Lynch kicked them off with a ripper from 60 metres out, before Ebert managed an outstanding pack mark and goal deep in the right pocket.

Barry Hall soon goaled from point blank range to cut the margin back to twelve points, before Mitch Brown snapped a beauty from the right pocket to extend it to eighteen.

The Eagles are proving they deserve their lofty ranking of top spot on the ladder, and be it not for poor kicking in front of goal, they would be much further in front.

Adam Goodes has been restricted to a mere disposals in the first half. He needs to have a much bigger impact if the Swans are going to pick up. Meanwhile Brett Kirk and Craig Bolton have amassed an amazing 42 disposals between them to half time. Wirrpanda also picked up another nine touche in the quarter to take his tally to 22.

Goals (SYD): Hall 2, Buchanan
Top Possessions (SYD): C.Bolton (22), Kirk (20), Lewis Roberts-Thompson (14)
Gone Cold (SYD): Bird (0), J.Bolton (1), Goodes (2)

Goals (WCE): Wirrpanda, Kerr, Ebert, Lynch, Brown
Top Possessions (WCE): Wirrpanda (22), A.Selwood (15), Kerr (15)
Gone Cold (WCE): Hurn (1), McKinley (2)

The Swans got off to a flier in that term, and looked as though they might overtake the Eagles late in the quarter. First Daniel O'Keefe goaled from a soccer of the ground, before Josh Kennedy cancelled him out five minutes later with a major from a set shot.

Jarrad McVeigh and Barry Hall then got the Swans within three points with seven minutes remaining in the quarter. Quentin Lynch then gave West Coast some breathing space with a snap from 50 out, before Beau Waters drilled home his first inside the last 60 seconds. The Swans won the quarter by two points.

The Swans had the momentum for most of the quarter, and will hope they didn't lose it in the dying stages. It will take them a lot to get over the Eagles from here.

Goals (SYD): Hall 3, D.O'Keefe, McVeigh, Buchanan
Top Possessions (SYD): Kirk (26), C.Bolton (26), Mattner (21)
Gone Cold (SYD): Bird (0), J. Bolton (3)

Goals (WCE): Lynch 2, Kerr, Brown, Wirrpanda, Waters, Ebert, Kennedy
Top Possessions (WCE): Kerr (25), Wirrpanda (23), Waters (22)
Gone Cold (WCE): McKinley (2), Hurn (3)

Bet you wished the Eagles were as good as they are in this game.

Hahah, we're coming in 2010. ;)

We finished higher than Sydney this year, and also should have beaten them in the actual game earlier in the season. We were up 100-101 with like 30 seconds to go, then some kid for us (forget who, mightve been Cockie) stuffed up royally and we lost by 5 points.
