Fielders running at god-speed

Since i have started playing online, I notice that my fielders walk and sometimes run at normal speed but opponents fielders run at god-speed. I am not able to figure out how.

I read somewhere to hold R2 on my PS3 controller but that did not help.

Any suggestions?

It might only be some lag, that shows on your side that they run that fast, when in fact they are running normal speed on their system. So to catch up with the lag, it appears as though they are running that fast (if that makes sense).

Then again, I might be completely wrong here.
