Final Fantasy XII

Absolutley loving it. The only reason i'm not on it now is because i'm letting my dad have a go on it. I won't lie, it's a bit tricky to get into but once you are in there is no getting out. Pretty much like the other 11 Final Fantasys.

Good stuff mate, I wish they had released it on PC, getting my Ps2 back out and sitting in the living room isn't particularly appealing, especially when the Tv is smaller than my monitor :p

Yeah it took me long enough to get the dust off my PS2 and honestly, I spent an hour searching for damn controller! I'd have liked it to be released on PC or the 360 because they are all I play on these days. Having said that though, I can play on FF on my PS2 while watching one of my Shameless boxsets on my laptop. :p

From what I've read about it, it's apparently the biggest evolution of the series ever, what with removing the random battles mechanics as well as changing the whole turn based structure. It also introduces loads of ideas that make the whole thing smoother.

I've also heard the story takes a while to really kick off, but once it gets going it's good. I am so tempted, but I really don't have the time to get involved with an epic like FF!

Well I really shouldn't be starting this game seeing a how I have crucially important exams in less than a months but hey ho, they'll sort themselves out. :o

Hmm maybe not the wisest idea I've ever heard then!

Although if you've got any willpower, you can use it to motivate your revision. For example for every 4 hours of revision you do you get an hour on FF or something similar etc...

Pretty much what I am doing. Take yesterday for example, my copy came through the post just before I went to school but when I returned home I finished my English coursework - which took about 2 hours - before finally playing this beast.

Good on you Matt, end of the day it's just a game, and it can be played at any time in the future, your exams however can't. You'll be able to enjoy it more knowing that you've not got more important things to be doing as well :)

As soon as my exams are finished I get a whole 7 weeks to play it anyway and that's more than enough time that a gaming veteran like myself needs to complete it. ;)

That's if there isn't any really impossible bosses on it like the underwater Weapon in FF7.

The underwater one was ok, it was the one in the desert was it I think? The one where you beat it, and the only way to beat it was with Nights of the Round, which you needed a Gold Chocobo to get... you then beat it, and what did you get... a Gold Chocobo! Someone in Square Enix had a serious sense of humour with that one :p

 Don't bloody remind me!

About 5 hours I spent capturing that Gold Choobo, a further 3 hours beating the boss itself and what do I get? Something I already had in the bloody first place! Still a terrific game though. One boss that always gave me a bit of grief was that big spider thing in the Nibelheim caves.

Yeah I remember that, the first time I played through a fair amount of things gave me trouble. Second time though knowing what to expect I was normally more than levelled up.

Also you couldn't catch Gold Chocobos, you had to breed them ;)

When I played through recently, I pretty much explored every known area, did you know there's a little cave wherein a bit of Vincents back-story gets explained?

You know what I meant. :p

Catching the right chocobos to breed. Been a while since i've played on that game and in my last play through I didn't bother with any of the Weapon bosses. I tried to play the whole game with each character using their original weapon. :)

Not entirely sure. Maybe if you could refresh my memory a bit more.

I really am engrossed in this now despite being only 8 hours into it. Has anybody else purchased this game? It's worth every damn penny.

might mate, i'm thinking of it, but I don't think I like that type of game...
