hello everyone,
i'm on holidays from uni with more time to waste than i've probably ever had in my life haha. fair bit of a cash log in the wallet (minus a massive sat night), so i'm prob gonna invest in some pc games like the mass nerd i am.
just wondering what everyone is playing, and does anyone have anything they would recommend?

please share your computer's configuration:cool:,and which game you like to play then i can suggest you.

15" display, 1366 x 768 (it's a laptop)
intel core 2 duo cpu- 2.40 ghz
4gb ram
320gb hdd @ 72000rpm
running vista home premium SP2, 32-bit
ati radeon HD 4570- 512mb
optaric AD-7640S sata dvd+-rw dual layer 8X slot load

not sure what other specs are important haha

i'll play anything

Let me think; Fallout 3? If you liked Oblivion, you'll like that; people describe it as Oblivion with guns, but it's far more than that, you'd have to play it to understand. :P

May I also suggest the Max Payne series? Slightly older games, but amazing all the same.

you can play any game released so far
but still my suggestion is
1.Gta IV
2.Call of duty 4
3.Fall out 3
4.Call of juarez 2
5.prototype

assassins creed was good fun, not sure if it is on pc mate

You should get Fight Night round 4 if it is on PC. Seriously epic. Like it takes epic to a new level. You think you know epic, you walk around going oh yeah I know epic but until you've played Fight Night round 4 you don't truely know the meaning of it.

It's not on PC. :( And I doubt if it ever will be, although I can't figure out why - the old excuse of controls no longer holds any water.

@OP: Plants v Zombies? Try the demo from Steam - you get an hour to try it. If you like it, get it from Steam as well as it's only ?7. It does seem like a very enjoyable little game and it got 90% in PC Gamer - most reviews gave it 90+ and no-one gave it less than 80%.

BIG NO to GTA IV on PC. Massive failure of a port.

The best singleplayer game of the last 5 years from what I've played is Bioshock. The game takes place in a dystopian colony at the bottom of the sea. It is set in a sort of high-tech 1930s world, a genre sometimes referred to as "steampunk" and is something of an homage to the Ayn Rand novel, Atlas Shrugged. Developed by 2K Games, in large parts by their studio in Canberra. A sequel is forthcoming this year.

Empire: Total War is the latest and most epic instalment in Creative Assembly's long running strategy series. The gameplay is a combination of turn based and real time strategy, set during The Age of Enlightenment. Manage your empire, or champion a revolution. Fight it out on land or at sea in real-time battles.

I'd be silly not to mention the Orange Box. Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2 with Episodes 1 & 2. A bunch of superb games for the price of one.
warning: high level cartoon violence

Call of Duty 4 is still being played online and another game that has a sequel due out later. It's a pretty straightforward combat FPS and that's why it's popular.

Fallout 3 was quite a hit too, a first person "action role playing game" set in a post-apocalyptic world. A number of downloadable packages have been released for it, to favourable reviews.

In terms of indie/puzzler/casual games, try
World of Goo
Braid
Audiosurf
Peggle
Plants vs Zombies
Blueberry Garden

There is also a new option, simply play a game for free online. We're not talking about little flash arcades, either.

QUAKE LIVE is a reboot of Quake 3 and Team Arena. Download a browser plugin and install the game, then all you need to do is login to the website when you want some action. It's a fast game and will run on pretty much any system, while the in-built matchmaker aims to give you a game that matches your skill.

Battlefield Heroes is a simplified version of the Battlefield series. Create a character in one of three classes and join battle in a cartoony WWII environment, complete with tanks, aeroplanes and jeeps. As your character earns experience, you can spend points to gain new weapons and abilities. You can also spend real money to enhance your characters quicker and play dress ups.

but if he like to play online, then i will advise him to buy Orange box,i simply the great game package ever made:happy

Battlefield 2 is a classic on PC. Great way to waste time. I would say AC09 but apparently codemasters does not understand marketing.
