The first Ahses Test was somewhat of a disaster for Geraint Jones, he dropped so many sitters that it was beyond a joke. Find a new keeper fast, or England might as well say goobye to the Ashes for another one and a half years... :crying

they were thinking of chris read his a specalist keeper and not a great batter, they are torn they need to strengthed batting lineup while still need to bowl the aussies out 2 times..

Jones only dropped 3 catches, yes 3 too many. he is our best option. He had a one off poor game find me a cricketer who hasn't he has a test hundred to his name. Prior is too aggressive for test cricket. Aka Ally brown. read is the best with the gloves but only averages 16 in Tests which is poor.

Same team as before but Collingwood in for Giles.

I think at some point Jones will come good, but it may not be this series. I am torn in the argument for dropping Giles, he contributed little in the First Test (Bat/Ball/Fielding Take your Pick) but I wonder if confronting the Aussies with no specialist spinner is a good idea. Collingwood would give us more experiance and depth in the middle order though. (And I would not pick Key for the side if a bout of Influenza wiped all the English batsman out)

Gilo will not be dropped!! Why do people keep saying Collingwood for Gilo! Its not happening! Like i said in another thread bring in Collingwood for Tremlett in the 12, then that gives you an extra option on the morning of the test, if anyone is going to be dropped it will be Bell unfortunately because Number 4 is where Collingwood would most likely bat and that is where Bell is now.

As for Geraint, he's dropped 3 catches all summer, and yes they were important one's. He has not done anything of note in test cricket with the bat since his century last summer and is under pressure from Read and Prior. Prior IMO will not be chosen as then the batting line up will be more like a OD side with too many attacking players in. Read has been a lot more consistent with the bat this season and should Jones fail in the next test, I fully expect Read to be given a chance.

I like Gilo and all, but if Vaughan isn't going to bowl him for atleast 15 overs an innings, why play him? Let Collingwood in, bowl him for 11-12 and let Vaughan chip in with a few...it will also help the batting a fielding overall...

Not that i've seen the dismissal but a good delivery can defeat any batsmen.

If people are criticising Jones what about Gilly he dropped 1 and scored 39 runs in total :D

:D = Sarcasm

I think the selectors will be hard pushed to drop the King of Spain. It will be left to him to abdicate.
