These are two most important things in all tech forums.
Hence i started a thread here.

For the uninitiated, Directx 10 is the new graphics API.
it, as usual, promises to improve gaming performance by 30%
Howver, there is one new implementation in it, it will directly by pass windows.
read about it, and windows vista
windows vista and directx10

For graphic cards, it would be helpful if someone posts latest news for them

Graphics card wise I think these two are the top of the range.

Nvidia GeForce 7900 GTX (512MB)

ATI Radeon X1900 XTX (512MB)

Max screen res of 2560 x 1600!

Yup...the games will look like in X-box or maybe better...

yo can we install directX 10 on Windows XP SP 2 with a nVIDIA GeForce FX5200(128 vram) ?

Windows xp -no, currently it only supports Vista. But who knows.

GeForce (any card) It doesn't matter. As there are no cards which support Directx 10.it will run in software mode.

ATI is working on R600 while Nvidia has G80 in works which are going to support Directx 10.

yo if u are talking bout resolution i'll be thinking of buying a projecter :D:D:D:p and while playing a game project it on a wall ;) :D:D:p nice idea though..

EDIT : and ofcourse never forget Counter Strike je the best player so i'll also mayeb buy a gun ;) so while playing the game instead of ketboard stand in front of the screen on the wall and play with a real Colt Marverick M4A1 muahha :D:D:D:p :happy

I just wanted to ask, what graphics card would be better between these two:

Nvidia Geforce 6800
Ati Radeon X1400

Both 256 MB DDR of ram

My dear friend, Ati Radeon X1400 is a mobility card. U don't compare mobility cards and desktop cards, simply because they serve different functions.

Also try to be specific as to what purpose u need a graphics card for.

General views are that if u play Directx enabled games then go for ATI, but if u play opengl based games(eg Quake , DoOM) then go for nvidia

Nvidia Geforce 6800 is better but in terms of mobility performance both are on almost equal terms. Hope that helps.
