Harbhajan cleared of racism charges

One other thing i would like to bring is why is there only evidence of when Harbhajan retaliates to what Symonds said and no evidence of any kind of what Symonds said to start all this. Very interesting.

Everyone i reckon needs to just grow some balls the players, captains, media. Its just shameful for our game of Cricket that we are in court for some petty on field banter which until now in most games of cricket has always stayed on the field no matter whether what kind of insult it is. And if it is really serious like this has gotten then it should have been sorted within both teams. Just realli embarrassed at the moment for our game of Cricket, that we are arguing in court about someone calling someone a monkey. Just get over it EVERYONE.

Yeah I agree, no need for court, when he was first banned it was 100%.

Why would the Aussies make up what is said in that audio transcripts? ON the field aswell. That's big proof there that he has said it.

Exactly, this isn't a bunch of criminals running around. These are cricketers, there is no NEED to make things up, and they didnt!

Now im reading that the BCCI were going to sue Cricket Australia if the suspension wasnt lifted and for Symonds and the umpire to never be allowed to make accusations again. Are they nuts?

That means jack **** to him. Do you know how much they get paid?? Plus how much he could get paid if he played/ plays county?? He is filthy rich. Its like Murali. Even if they ended Muralis career now. He would be very very rich. Same with Harbajan, even if we took all his wages this serious he wouldnt really care.

Bloody Indian Board bluffed and ICC bought it. Screw you BCCI and screw you ICC. Grow some balls

Yes, but to put it into moral standards, it is the most ethical thing to do. I can't see any good coming out of banning him for something the Indians take as a 'compliment' to someone else taking it as an 'insult' and creating a whole stir about it. Yes money is not important, but what other standard is there for a situation like this?

These complaints will never stop. Just have to accept he said it, and got fined 50% of their money. I don't think anyone else cares even a little, the moral standard has been set, even if it's at a low level, it is a start to stopping those 'abusive' comments.

Don't defending India, just trying to settle this. One of the most amazing finishes in a Cricket match was ruined because of everything in between.

A game of Cricket has turned into a battle of pride and the act of being on top in the end.

I wonder why you guys never blame Symonds who started in the first place.

Why shouldn't he get fined at least? Why wasn't he disciplined?

Hahahahaha, so Symonds should get fined because he is the victim of racial abuse? Oh thats a smart idea...

He didn't start it, Singh did when he hit Lee in the arse with his bat, Symonds was just sticking up for his mate.

Well it really is just my opinion but I think Harbhajan escaped what would have been a deserved punishment.

But now that this matter is closed, it is for the best, to just forget it and move on.

I think Brett Lee should have responded to any provocation from Bhajji. Which he clearly didn't.

All that Harbhajan said was "well bowled" to Lee. Is that provocation? I think not. It was Symonds who provoked Harbhajan.

What would happen if Symonds insulted Harbajan's mother?

Probably a level 2.8 offense charge:p

When i heard the available audio on Cricinfo. I was quite shocked, i thought it would be obvious that Harbhajan called Symonds a monkey when i heard that. Yes it is not solid evidence but it definitely helps the case.

The line "But he started it" was probably the big give-away

"It was accepted by Mr Symonds that some of Mr Singh?s response was in his native language,? the transcript adds.

This is ridiculous. Harbhajan merely patted Lee on the arse as if to say it was a good delivery or 'better luck next time' and Lee did not follow up on it so clearly took no offense. Is Lee a child who cannot stick up for himself? No, he chose not to act because it was an inoffensive gesture.

Indians are going to back Singh.
Australians are going to back Symonds and the Aussies.

I would have thought the audio would have settled this and made all the Indian fans realize that when Hayden (IIRC) told him he called Symonds a monkey - then Singh went on to say "Well he started it" - that means he did do it but is making sure that we know he didn't instigate it. I don't really see how any Indian fan can bail him out of that one, he did say it, but the ICC are pussies who will get bullied by the Indian board to do practically anything.

That's a fair point Hooper.

If I had just been accused of calling someone a monkey, I wouldn't reply in the way that Bhaji did.

There was simply too much reasonable doubt left in a system where we are supposed to presume innocent until guilty. Bhajji not getting banned is the fair outcome. Perhaps not 'correct', but fair.

As the judge said, he didn't have enough evidence to convict. And a court should never convict on a possibility. Though I did hear an Australian judge use the word probably in a rape case against an Aborigine girl lately.

It certainly is a valid point, but one must take into account Bhajji's poor listening skills in English. You simply need to see him on Cricket AM to notice that he can barely understand English for someone who speaks it so well.

Some of his response. So that clearly doesnt answer the previous question.

If some was in his native language, then it is likely that monkey could --> maaki. It is rare for someone to shift languages during a heated exchange.
