Dhoni - 'It's important to send the message across'

Dang son. You know the reason players like Subramaniam Badrinath, Manoj Tiwary and Dinesh Karthik are never going to become really well-known cricketers? Because Ganguly, Dravid and Tendulkar have been playing for so long. These cricketers have been playing for almost two generations. That's a whole generation of Indian cricketers that we'll never get to see. Who knows if the next Bradman was somewhere amongst them?

These cricketers are simply breaking the life cycle of the game. If you look around, what compatriots do you see of these big 3 in other teams? Australia has Hayden and barely Ponting. In bowling, there's no one after Warnie and McGrath retired. South Africa--perhaps Kallis. Boucher maybe since he's been keeping for ages. No one else. Sri Lanka--just Jayasuriya. Pakistan--no one.

Players like Aravinda de Silva, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Brian Lara, Gary Kirsten, Michael Bevan--these were the compatriots of our big 3. They've been long gone.

Dhoni, you cannot win with ONLY youth.

Why the hell not? I mean, you talk of experience, you think people like Ganguly and Dravid just had experience zapped into their brains?

The other guys need to start playing, to build for the future, the big three aren't going to be around forever.

We've started the transition, and won a series in Australia, and people are still complaining to bring the oldies back, unbelievable.

Anyway, there are experienced guys like Sachin, Pathan, Yuvraj and Dhoni in the team, it's not as if all the players are just newbies to International cricket.

The oldies shouldn't get knocked out simply because of their age. If they can still perform they should still be able to play for their country.

Yes, but if the young players can perform and they have shown that they can, why can't we just persist with them?

Please don't use the Tendulkar and the finals arguments, because they performed well too.

The team is far better as a fielding unit too, which is a side to cricket in which we were rubbish at, and now there is a drastic improvement.

Basically, what I'm saying is, the young players coming into the team is better for the team.

Munaf Patel was included in the team. He is by far the worst fielder in India.
Sourav Ganguly was overlooked. He's not a good fielder either.
We have around 10 quicks better then Munaf, probably more.

We need a solid opener.
Why not Ganguly?

What's wrong with Robin Uthappa as the opener? He made two good partnerships with Tendulkar and he hasn't even been given a solid run as opener yet.

On the Munaf argument, I don't want him in the ODI side either, so yeah.

The points is here is that you replacing the players who have performed best in ODIs last year just because of their Fielding!!But reality is you are not replacing Ganguly with Jhonty Rhods...Have you seen Gambhir run out???He was not able to run with 36 years Sachin tendulkar????

Now take the Reality,Real thing is Dhoni never get the Fame which he wants until our seniors are there..Like Example Team have done very well in CB series but Final touch was given by Sachin there..
And Dhoni himself know that without Tendulkar He would have never lifted CB series cup...
How can you compare D Kartik with Sachin????

What is everybodies problem with Dhoni trying to save you an absolutely horrific, crippling problem that may occur in the next 18 months where you might lose 4/5 players in under a year. Jesus christ, he's doing Indian cricket a favour. The fact that you lot are all too ignorantly obsessive about current stars and seem to not care about future stars is pathetic. It shows the nature of Indian fans and why very few other nationalities want to touch it with a barge pole in terms of coaching roles.

Uthappa is brilliant at 6 and should stay there IMO.

Tendulkar
Ganguly
Ghambir
Yuvraj
Sharma
Uthappa
Dhoni
Bowlers

Looks fine to me.

Ignorantly obsessive? Not care of the future? You couldn't be more wrong. I've written at least six articles, one for PC, on the future of Indian Cricket. I am constantly looking towards the future of our team.

One thing I fear is our inexperienced team, probably full of themselves after beating Australia, getting crushed in the next series. This would cause the selectors to go crazy and drop everyone who did poorly in that series (Look: Dinesh Karthik) And these talented individuals would rarely get another chance.

All i'm asking is for some experienced, cool heads to guide these cricketers into International cricket. Ganguly was the one who started this "Young Cricketers" scheme anyways!

All of you talk of a "transition". What is going on now is no transition, more like a massive revamp. Things need to go slow, the "Big Three" need to settle the players into the side and then, when their job is done, can leave.

You assume I'm talking to you.

It is a transition. Laxman, Ganguly Dravid were the only real big names who didn't play in the ODI's in Australia and there have been mermerings about whether Dravid should play in ODI's long before Dhoni's push for youth came about. 3 players is a transition. One player isn't a transition. But 5 or 6 is too many. 3 is a good number, and it's not asif the player you brought in didn't already have experience at international level. Gambhir had flirted with the side in and out for the past 2 years, Uthappha played in the 20/20 world cup and played in previous ODI series. Rohit Sharma was the only real one who had no real experience having only played in the 20/20 world cup.

Because Dhoni doesn't like him..

AHAHAHAAH, that's just crossing the boundaries into stupidity.

Oh, and it's Mother Mary.

As for Uthappa, he's brilliant at six, because he is a good player and he adapted well, but if he is given a good run as opener, I'm sure he will do well. If there is a space for an opener, Uthappa should be given it right now, because that's his natural position.

Ya Mob...So Its not about Like and Dislike???
Well @stupidity?? Don't judge people that Fast???? You know cricket and English better than me but thats not allowed you to judge me Stupid???

@Mary-You know active speech???..Ok forget it thats not the Topic..

If I would have said same for Kartik or Uthappa then you would never have told me Stupid...I also like some players so Much...I have Grown up watching Sachin playing...Nothing means more to me than Country win but Respect is the thing which I can never avoid...
