A bad week for the batsman.

Australia opening batsman Matthew Hayden is certain he will be fit for the first Ashes Test despite being attacked by a dog while jogging.

Hayden suffered a 5cm-long ankle wound in what he called a "vicious attack". It came a week after he broke a finger.

Poor guy, hopefully he gets better in time for the Ashes but this certainly won't help his build up for it. MacGill also has problems after being suspended so thats 2 Ashes players that will lack match practice.

I must admit, I LOLed when I read the thread title. But seriously, I hope he recovers well. Sounds nasty!

It was probably a Brittish Bulldog.

But seriously this sucks. Must've actually been a pretty big dog to take Hayden down.

The dog didn't bite his finger, it caused a wound on his ankle!

Practice? Pffff....when you have natural talent, practice is unnecessary.

I'd imigane they'd give Hayden a good chance in the VB series to state his claim over a World Cup place seeing as Katich is being thrown to the cleaners & if Watson continues to fail in the ICC Champions Trophy.

I hope they do, as highly as I do rate Watson as a batsman, Haydos a far better opening batsman.
