It seems to be the way in the Asian countries. People are a lot lightier over there than in other parts of the world. You hardly ever see overweight people in those countries but over here it a lot more common.

Mainly due to food habbits,a lot less junk food consumption here in general.

There are a few pretty big people in India. More than a few, I have seen a lot. Not so much in the metropolitans, though.

Wrong, big people are more in cities, however, a greater no of rural people are just overweight.maybe 5 - 10 kgs

Won't doing weights result in a higher body mass; through muscle development that is, not fat?
Not quite. Doing weights burns calories and the a lot of the energy is used to build up the muscle. However, as all energy transfers are not 100% efficient, some will be "lost". Therefore, you lose weight. Most muscular men are heavy because they eat so much so that the muscle can be built.

well, muscle density is very low compared to fat layer density.
also, even idle muscle burns calories, hence reducing fat.

muscular men(like WWF wrestlers) are heavy because of three things.Muslces, fat, and water retention due to steroids and misc.

generally, true body builders aren't that heavy as WWF wrestlers.

I have seen more overweight people in non metropolitan cities, that are well off. Since they are not in a metropolitan, there is less awareness about healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle. I have yet to come across someone in Bombay who is just... big, whereas I have seen many such people in smaller cities.

Which means that you basically haven't seen any 30+ member of the Kapoor family ....

Of course. 1 inch = 2.54 cm, therefore 1 foot = 12x2.54 = 30.48cm

It's not a matter of believing in the 30.48cm foot, it's a matter of being more accurate.

yet most rulers go up to 30cms.

School ones anyway :D
