Help files for modding?

As someone who hasn't done much in the way of adding mods and changing settings in a game, I was wondering (and note, this is before going in-depth for a search in threads) if there are beginner help files for this sort of stuff? I'm enough of a novice and yet experienced enough to know that if the wrong string or file is positioned, the game can crash and require reinstall. Or worse, depending on what you do.

I can see how easy it is to add new bats and perhaps faces, that sort of thing, but am just wondering if there isn't a guide for those not as used to doing so? I'd like to be able to perhaps do some of the things that I've seen mentioned, like the changing of some settings for the AI and so on. Again, very inexperienced here. Any direction towards a particular thread would be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Solas.

Just back up all your files before you start and follow the instructions the programs give you- if you screw something up restore the backup but most things are fairly self explanitory.

Most of the programs we produce are both user friendly and user proof although it always a good idea to back up anyway.

To be fair all of prakash's editors and importers appear bug free and I haven't encountered a single problem whilst using them

Is there a single list of the editable items from the config editor. A lot of things are self explanatory. I have found some others in various threads. Some still confuse me royally!

This kind of document would help people like us who want to edit configs, but do not know what all the values are for.
