If i ever got a time machine then i would pick sachin tendulkar from 1998 and take him to IPL 2009. Only god knows what hell would wreck on the bowlers when sachin of 1998 would be unleashed in a 20 over game without any restrictions. 300 would have been possible due to him. so according to the peak form, here is my modern era ODI XI(Modern era because i havent seen any old players play so cant compare them with current)

I guess these teams would be a lot difficult to beat. Dont blame me for personal bias for including indians a lot. you can see on the form i have included 5 aussie in ODI 11 and 4 aussie in test XI.
Feel free to post you best eleven on form, i guess noone can replace tendulkar of 1998. just to give you stats so that u all anti-tendulkar fans can think. in 1998 Sachin score 1894 runs in 25 ODI. That include 9 centuries. A record even matthew hayden failed to broke last year.hayden scored like 1500 runs in 30 odd games.

Interesting thread. Similar to the All Time XI but much different at the same time.

Interesting that you've picked Vaughan from 2005 in your Test XI, he was FAR better before he was captain, in 2002/3. He averaged 61 in 2002/3 and that included a tour to Australia against an Aussie attack probably near their best. He averaged 63 in that Ashes tour, scoring 3 massive hundreds when opening against the attack of McGrath, Gillespie, Bichel and Warne. His record in 2005 was nothing compared to that of 2002/3.

It's spelt PietersEn as well. Just annoys me when people spell his name wrong :p

Gilchrist batting at 4 in Tests is hilarious as well. Gilchrist batting ahead of Lara in any team is beyond ridiculous. Did you actually plan these teams, or was it just a matter of naming all the players that you think are decent and then just sticking them down into a randomly generated XI? Tendulkar doesn't open in Tests either, you're just missing a guy like Hayden from your team, which frankly is idiocy.

Jeez KP, why do you always have to be so rude :p. I think you've got most of the players' peaks right but the batting orders need to be revised.

well didnt u read what this column was about. i picked players on the form. and in 1998 years form, tendulkar was just destroying bowlers a will. thats why i chose him to open my test 11. as fa as gilchrist is concerned i placed him there accidently.

tendlkars is a really great batsmen but i doubt he would keep wickets as good as gilly wud.
Oops, I forgot about the keeper. Gilchrist can't play with Sachin though!
I think I'll go with Ian Healy, or Mark Boucher.

Just because he was batting good it doesn't mean you should automatically open with him

Feelin Blue? added 2 Minutes and 26 Seconds later...

Lee was out injured for the 2007 World Cup as well.

And your batting order is ridiculous. In tests you need to swap Lara with Gilchrist and in One Dayers Tendulkar with Gilchrist. Batting Lara at 6 is a waste. With thta line-up he wont get a decent bat because they would want to be declaring around the time he gets in, so you would want him to hit quick runs early which is what Gilly does.

Matthew Hayden in Tests 2001-2004 > All

I'll never forget when he smashed Wasim Akram over his head for 6 in Australia's first match of the 2003 World Cup. Classic.
