Iain O'Brien to retire from international cricket

Its an interesting decision by O'Brien in these days when living apart from each other due to profession is becoming so common. I agree, "Family comes first". He can do any job that is available in UK, but the pleasure of living with the family and watching the kids grow up cant be matched.

Its quite fitting that he just scored his highest test score in his last test on his home ground, he will be missed

Very sad news, he was a good pacemen and NZ will now have to look in bringing in youngsters like Tim Southee in the test team.

Hope he still continues with his blog, it's always good to read for a laugh.

Kind of sad that he has the best series of his career, then retires. He even got runs with the bat today. I will miss the sight of him bounding in, one of the constants in NZ test matches over the last few years. Hats off to a guy who always seemed to give his best.

A true No. 11 who sometimes batted at 9 :D

Definitely improved towards the end of his career. Perhaps an IPL pick-up?
