I was just filling out a survey on cricinfo.com that asked to to pick 14 man squad for the upcoming ICC super series.
http://aus.cricinfo.com/db/INTERACTIVE/COMPETITIONS/SURVEY/SUPERS/

What would your first XI be if you had to choose from those squads?

Here's my attempt.

TEST

1.Kumar Sangakkara (w) - Dunno about other opening options, didnt want Smith though.
2.Virender Sehwag - Could put our blokes under pump with low bounce of S.C.G.
3.Rahul Dravid (c) - Doesn't get much better than this in world cricket, rock at 3.
4.Jacques Kallis - Not bad at 4!, could bowl if desperate (unlikely).
5.Brian Lara - Wanted to bat down order for WI, so could cop batting at 5.
6.Sachin Tendulkar - Can rebuild innings or attack depending on state of play.
7.Andrew Flintoff - Do everything man at more natural position of 7.
8.Daniel Vettori - Class spinner, almost genuine all-rounder these days.
9.Muttiah Muralitharan - One of the best spinners of all time, handy tail ender.
10.Shoaib Akhtar - Worth a gamble, can put Aussies on back foot early, reverse it later.
11.Shane Bond - Noone has destroyed the Aussie lineup like this guy has. Won't have much game time under belt before this series, but looked the goods v ZIM.

ODI
1.Sanath Jayasuriya c) - Gutsy captain, destructive opening but, handy containment bowler.
2.Virender Sehwag - Can put major scoreboard pressure on the Aussies if he stays in for 10 overs.
3.Jacques Kallis - Superstar with bat, decent with ball, great temperament for number 4.
4.Brian Lara - One of the greats of all time, not a bad bloke to have at 5!
5.Sachin Tendulkar - Can rebuild innings or attack depending on state of play.
6.Andrew Flintoff - Destructive lower order hitting, striker with ball.
7.Kumar Sangakkara (w) - Fine batsmen, comfortable keeping to Murali.
8.Daniel Vettori - Can add some quick runs at end of innings, frustrates Aussies with accuracy.
9.Chaminda Vaas - Should keep it tight up front, and bowl brilliantly at death, gutsy bat at number 10
10.Muttiah Muralitharan - Will keep it tight through middle overs and probably pick up 2-3 wickets.
11.Shane Bond - A menace with the white ball, could end Aussie hopes with first spell.

greatly strenghtened by the inclusion of shane bond and harmission and flintoff.

Who do you think will be handed over the mantle of captaincy?

Dravid
Fleming
Inzimam

According to rumours, Michael Vaughan is almost certainly going to captain the test team. This after his excellent record as England captain.

My Test team:
Graeme Smith
Michael Vaughan (C)
Brian Lara
Rahul Dravid
Jacques Kallis
Andrew Flintoff
Kumara Sangakkara (wk)
Shaun Pollock
Steve Harmison
Shane Bond
Muttiah Muralitharan

Others in squad: Anil Kumble, Inzamam, Daniel Vettori

My ODI team:
Chris Gayle
Herschelle Gibbs
Brian Lara
Inzamam-ul-Haq (C)
Kevin Pietersen
Andrew Flintoff
Kumara Sangakkara (wk)
Shahid Afridi
Steve Harmison
Makhaya Ntini
Muttiah Muralitharan

Others in squad: Abdul Razzak, Rahul Dravid, Jacques Kallis

Dint select Sachin Tendulkar as I am unsure about his injury status.

I think it should be dravid as captian you seen how good he is as captain in the indian oil series which they lost.

Why dont you check his record as captain. Besides in the recent tri series in Sri Lanka, he often looked totally confused with field settings and making bowling changes.

Saurav Ganguly makes a better captain than him imo.

Indiangod you stated that Dravid is a very good captain which we have seen in the Indian Oil series which they LOST...Hardly sounds like he is the excellent captain you are making him out to be...

Dravid is a good captain I know India lost , but india came close to winning in the end , and all of indias loses to sri lanka was close anyway.

But the whole point is, Dravid doesnt seem to be able to handle the weight of captaincy very well. He has a pretty ordinary record.

India's record under Rahul Dravid

Test Matches:-
Matches - 5
Won - 2
Lost - 2
Drawn - 1
Win Rate - 40%

One Day Matches:-
Matches - 17
Won - 7
Lost - 9
NR - 1
Win Rate - 41.18%

He is an exceptional player, and imo one of the top three batsmen in the world at the moment. And the last thing India would want now is his personal form being affected due to the additional burden of captaincy. Like I said, he hasnt impressed much in terms of bowling changes and field settings. Often he has backed out in situations, when he should have attacked more.

Dravid has a very ordinary record as captain. Indiangod, open your eyes to the evidence!

but he has captained only when ganguly was not available.
the indianoil final must have been his first.
its not good to judge him on that it self.
