India deserving No.1: Hadlee

I wonder if his plan worked, I wonder how many more investors the sly dog lured in :laugh

Indians are smart investors (counting out some franchises who spent $750000 for Kemar Roach and Shane Bond) :)

I don't think any of the current sides are worthy of the number one spot. Australia, India, South Africa, England and even Sri Lanka/New Zealand can all challenge anybody else on their day.

None of the teams can currently beat anyone home and away, that is the most odd stat. SA lose at home, so do England. India are getting back to being ruthless at home. Australia of course has lost only two home series in the last 20 years- last season to SA and 92/93 v WI.

SA lose at home, so do England.
Except against us :getyou

It's been said that Australia can't win away, but there's only really been one case of that, in India 2008, but we've always struggled in India. We had a great victory in SA and should have won in England so it can't be said for a couple of years that we struggle away.

It doesn't matter what anyone says.

India deserve to be #1 because they are ranked #1. It's really that simple.

It's not like the ranking system has been changed in order to allow India to be #1. It's the same system that put Australia on top for so many years.

The only reason people say India don't deserve it is because they can't stand the sight of India at #1.

Right!

Ok.

Right, by the Tom Baker classification system I am now #1 in the world at having sex.

Does that make it right? Maybe ;) but I doubt it. Currently there is no classification system as far as I am aware for having sex, which makes mine the only and offical one, so I must be right then? Yes, I am being slightly sarcastic, but I hope you get my point. India need to prove they are number 1 by beating the good teams

If India stay at number one for a considerable period then they deserve it. Surely the aim isnt just to get to number one, but to stay there for more than a few weeks. South Africa have got to number twice in the last ten years but went backwards straight away, both at the hands of Australia, in 2002 and 2010. If India can remain there then there is no argument.

If i remember correctly. It's been almost 2 years since india lost a test match. Last being the controversial Sydney test match.:spy

That is some consistency:hpraise:hpraise.... They have been sometimes poor in a few ODI's but in Test matches they are unstoppable. I am just worried how they gonna protect their throne against SAF without Sachin-Dravid and laxman in middle order. (Yuvi is also injured but it doesnt matter weather he plays or not:p)..

I guess new middle order for the series would be :
3 Murali Vijay
4 Cheteshwar Pujara
5 Manish Pandey
6 Suresh Raina.
