Indian Captaincy-Discuss

Hahaha Kumble is the worst captain ever. Gilly and Symonds were going at 8 runs an over so what does he do? He goes defensive thinking they are going to slog and get out instead of taking singles. That only works against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, teams they can compete against.
Hahhahaha guess what we got them out!

Idiot. It was a good plan. Of course, if you were captain you would have not learned from your mistake and allowed them to steal the game like Hogg and Symmo.

No hell.

He should not be playing test matches either. When are you retiring from game?

No too me hes one of the worst International captains between the Major teams , Dravid was way better.

Dravid was crap. Kumble is way better than Dravid.

Sehwag is the one to captain India but hes not a stable player.

Symonds got out from a edge which bounced more than he thought. I forget how gilly got out but it showed Kumble's not a good captain. Okay they are in and they can see the ball better what do you do? you go moderate not straight on the defensive cause they're scoring runs. They are going to get out edging the ball with a hook than getting out run out or something.

I rate Kumble's captaincy the best in the world (going by this series anyway). He's made the right bowling change decisions, his fields have been ok, and generally hes a great ambassador for India

mate don't you understand captaincy is not only about on field tactics,
its more of field activities like-team building, motivating, conducting himself well
and most important attribute is influence a guy has on his team,
kumble is an inspirational leader, the whole team looks up to him and follows him, look at his fighting knock at sydney test

Kumble is one of the smartest cricketers to play the game, and he's avoided the limelight, which is good for a captain. Not like that arrogant twat Ganguly.

I don't know how you guys can compare who's the better captain when your not in the teams to judge.

We can only compare by what we see in the media and on field tactics. Pontings definetly the more experienced captain (obviously) and has been media trained to an infinite degree. He just comes across fake sometimes, and i think that's why Indian fans dont like him. Thats why i like Kumble, he seems himself, and for an in-experienced captain hes made the right decisions so far!

How convenient is it that you forgot how Gilly got out ?! Bowled by Sehwag in his first over, who was brought on by Kumble.

Well Indians selectors have always been against bowlers being captains.

Its not their fault, but batsmen get a much more written about than bowlers.

Also the fact that Anil Kumble has always been a low-profile player didnt help the cause.

Kumble's good with bowling changes etc, but as a bowler its going to be something he'll have thought of all of his career not just as captain. Field placings he is pretty poor, he follows the ball way too much and is pretty generic. The newer captains that have really succeeded as good skippers have been the ones who have done things differently and improvised - Fleming, Vaughan et el. But he's on a learning curve, its going to be like this for a bit till he settles down.

The newer captains have been younger though, and perhaps they have a different mentality and approach to the game compared to the older ones. Eg. Dhoni in T20.

Bowlers are not permanent in either form of game. All fast bowlers break down after 8 games and Kumble was not even considered for test or odis when bhajji was in his peak.

Only Kapil Dev was the fittest and bankable bowler and thats why he became captain.:hpraise

T20 is other game all together. Lets see how he does in Australia with inexperienced player that he has been given.

God save us in ODIs.
