Indian Domestic Tournament - Duleep Trophy 2005 - 06 [A C2004 Story]
To provide more variety and competition to the tournament, it has become customary for the past 2 years that a sixth foreign side is invited to take part in the tournament. The first ever foreign team to play in the Duleep Trophy was England ?A?. They did pretty decently and one name stood out in that tournament for the visitors who convinced every one who witnessed his prowess with the bat, that he is England material. Yes, we are talking about a certain Kevin Pietersen.
The last year tournament witnessed a Bangladeshi Cricket Board XI captained by young talent Mohammad Ashraful take part as the sixth side. The BCB XI did not convince any of the other teams though and went out with a whimper.
This year too, a Bangladeshi XI would take part in the Duleep Trophy. But it is rumoured that the BCB will field a quite strong side in this year?s tournament. The hype around the tournament has increased due to the recent performances of the Bangladeshi team against England and Australia.
